// GRASS turns to SEED in an ABANDON FIELD //

in #nature7 years ago

In an overgrown field clumps of different grasses grow to maturity. Safe from a lawn mower. The result are tall blades/stalks with their different seed formations. It's a mini jungle where only the strongest survive.

These grasses provide food for birds and insects. They also provide fertilizer for small plants and bushes, which all make it possible for trees to grow and thrive.

I see some goldenrod in there as well.

Oh there are lots along the road. Not so much rag weed the big pollen menace.

Great post! I love seeing areas left in their natural state. The grasses are so beautiful this time of year!

Lawn mower free zone.

I really like how we use the term "abandoned", when the place was actually "left alone to be the way it should be" :)

You got that right. Like it's only good if a bulldozer been through it.
