I went for a hike in the forest near my place this weekend and ended up doing mushroom spotting 😂
They were everywhere.
Sometimes I forget how magical forests get in autumn until I just wander without a goal.
I’m definitely not a mushroom expert (yet?), so I didn’t pick anything — just stopped every 5 meters like a distracted squirrel because another weird/funny/beautiful mushroom popped up.
Here are some of the little guys I ran into 👇
(the forest is really showing off this season!)

No idea what kind of mushroom this is..... But it grew on another plant like a parasite.

Please let me know if you know what this is!

🧡 Why I Love This Time of Year
Wet leaves, cold air, moss glowing neon green, and mushrooms in every shape — soft, spiky, round, alien-looking…
Honestly I love how forests feel a bit mysterious in autumn. Like something could move behind the moss at any moment 👀
Also: mushroom photography is 90% lying on wet ground and wondering if someone walking by thinks you're strange. Worth it.
🍂 Leave No Trace (except muddy knees)
I know some mushrooms are edible here, but until I can tell the delicious ones from the “you will definitely see colors and possibly meet god” ones, I’m just admiring 😌
Better safe than mushroom-hospital.
✨ Felt Good to Slow Down
No rushing, no “steps goal,” just moving slowly and noticing tiny things.
Highly recommend forest time before winter arrives and we all hide indoors again.
🌱 Have you been mushroom hunting (or spotting) this season?
If you know any of these species, feel free to drop names — I’m curious but also slightly scared of googling the wrong one 😅
See you on the next walk!
