Mycology is the study of fungi, and Paul Stamets is pretty much the world's leading expert, an incredibly smart man as you'll see. I believe anyone would find his work interesting!
I think many of us find mushrooms at least a little mysterious and interesting, even though they're not a commonly discussed topic - many people even fear them especially in North America. Paul Stamets's research is important, and extremely interesting even if you don't know anything about fungi.
