This doesn't surprise me. Local news isn't profitable anymore, which makes free footage an attractive proposition. Given the limited scale, I think it's just successful PR.

Amazon is probably to cheap to bribe anyone. In fact, they ran a campaign to have cities bribe them for their second HQ.

This is what happens when one person or one corporation owns dozens if not hundreds of media outlets and when the news gets highjacked by capitalism, it becomes just another marketing platform for the rich elite and thats exactly what Jared Kushner said when he brought his media outlet

I'd be willing to bet that there are a ton of stories that have been laid out just like this one. The media is so frustrating and I wonder if it was always like this but we just weren't aware of it because social media didn't exist 20 years ago.
