After 9/11 the British govt sent out a booklet to all households explaining how to deal with a terrorist attack (have water and tinned food on hand, stock up on duct-tape to seal windows in case of a gas attack, and so on). That was in 2001, and no-one has really had to use the info.
They sent it out just because people were jittery back then.
It is always a good idea to have some emergency supplies to hand, but I really don't think WW3 is going to start.
German government has had a homepage on how to stockpile which food and how for a long time, preppers loved to point to it because it was detailed, thorough, reliable and accurate: in short, German.
As I'm mostly abstinent from MSM, I wonder why this is cooking up suddenly like big news.
It was a paper from 2012 which appeared again in the media a few days ago. Our government wants to safe the important infrastructure better which is obviously necessary.
I saw this over the weekend... - maybe on ZeroHedge. I'm not usually a believer in conspiracy theories, but more and more "news" these days leads one to suspect that there are powerful forces in the world who know something they're not telling..

There is no immediate danger. But it's a way for the government to let people in Germany know, that things are getting rough and nobody should count on the police for help. Stockpiling helps against unknown dangers. If they start advising to get armed, then you should be worried.
i doubt they would ever go as far because of the culture there.
When the government warns you about something you know nothing is going to happen. Does the government let you know before a terrorist attack? NO.
This is just psychological mind game to create fear, they did the same thing in luxembourg, government sent leaflet to everyone telling them to prepare for nuclear war and its happening in the US too when obama says be prepared for a catastrophic event.
The end game is nothing but a world government, when people fear there could be a war there will be ready to accept any changes to "prevent" this war.
Seems like they get ready for zombie apocalypse .

Maybe it is a strategy of the Government to make people feel less safe in order to instill in them fear ahead of the 2017 elections. Fearful people tend to vote for conservative governments.

I do not think the conflict in the Ukraine will escalate before the elections in the U.S.. Putin will not let himself be provocated into something major until he sees if Trump wins the presidency. Obama will also not let himself get sucked into something in his last few months of office. There is a rule that would come into effect if something major happens then Obama would temporarily stay President. This was the situation by G.W. Bush almost were the incoming president was Obama during the Financial meltdown 2008. I would presume that the bigger threat concerning Europe are the Banks. That could be one reason why the French, Italians and the Germans are meeting today. Terrorism like I'm hearing on Bloomberg can't be the problem unless water is threatened.
They have people alive that experienced the wheelbarrow's of money hyper-inflation scenario. If that happens in the USA, all hell will break loose.... or should I say When that happens in the USA?

Hi from Berlin Luke! Don't worry, this is a non-event in Germany. It is completely normal and seen as absolutey reasonable to make emergency plans. People expect that from the government, they don't fear it doing so. We make plans for everything and Daddy Gov loves us all ;-)

Since your post has more traffic I will repeat it here...I think everyone should first invest in long durable food and clean water for at least 3 months and then everything else. Fiat, gold, silver,stocks won't have much value when the financial world as we know it collapses.
Interesting... Meanwhile, in some other parts of the world, 'preppers' are regarded as cranks. But how much of a prepper is someone that keeps a two week supply? It's like if you adopt the prepper mentality just a little bit, say %5, you're not a crank... How long until adopting it %10 is 'the done thing'?
If you aren't set up to take care of your family for at least 1 month in case a social break down, then you are a fool. Conspiracy theories be damned bad weather, trucker strike or any myriad of possible scenarios could happen to you. Be ready to take personal responsibility for you and yours.

and it's only says, that they plan to rewrite the plans of civil defense because that plans were written 20 years ago. The modern infrastructure and the resource dependency has changed and we need to update old stuff.
