In 1972 China gifted the US with its first panda bears. Fast forward to today and the US will gift pandas back to China. Starting with Bei Bei the four-year-old panda who will be sent this month from the US to China as the first of many pandas that will be shipped over in an effort to repopulate pandas into the wild.
Currently, panda bears are nearly extinct With only 1800 pandas left in the wild. The Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington is in the efforts of raising panda bears until the age of four and then sending them to China to be released into forest sanctuaries.
Stories like this are needed right now. At a time where greed is rampant, and political leaders are out of control, and citizens and governments are at odds with each other, it is heartwarming to see that people from different corners of the world can come together and link up for a greater good. This is an amazing feat to see two great nations that are currently playing tug-of-war over trade, still be able to have some professionals come together for life and nature instead of greed and tyranny and this story is a perfect example of a gift that keeps on giving. Peace not war!
