Leshy and Kikimora are somewhat ambivalent characters in Rhûnnish fairy tales, or at least they were until they encountered the Goblin King. They are the custodians of the forest and marsh, and they have many children to aid them in this task. I will introduce the Leshёnki, or Children of the Forest, in my next post.

Леший и Кикимора несколько амбивалентные персонажи в ржуннских сказках, или, по крайней мере, так было до тех пор, пока они не столкнулись с Королем Гоблинов. Leshy is a large man covered in fur, with horns on his head, and an exceptionally large nose. He looks a lot like an ogre from Heroes of Might and Magic 2, particularly with that scythe-like weapon that he wields. Leshy spends most of his time in the drier parts of the forest, roaming among the trees. He typically leaves people along, but will attack hunters who kill too many animals or woodsmen who cut down too many of his trees. It is said that the deeper you venture into the woods to cut down a tree, the better your reason needs to be when Leshy asks you why you want this tree. The goblins, of course, wouldn't have heeded such warnings even if they heard them. When the goblins arrived in his forest, Leshy at first threw them out, but when the goblins' enemies arrived and began cutting and burning trees to flush the goblins out, Leshy switched sides.

Леший крупный мужчина, покрытый мехом, с рогами на голове и исключительно большим носом. Он очень похож на огра из "Героев Мощи и Магии 2", особенно с этим похожим-на-косу оружием, которым он владеет. Леший проводит большую часть своего времени в более сухих частях леса, бродя среди деревьев. Обычно он оставляет людей в покое, но нападает на охотников, которые убивают слишком много животных, или на лесорубов, которые вырубают слишком много его деревьев. Говорят, что чем глубже вы углубляетесь в лес, чтобы срубить дерево, тем лучше должна быть ваша причина, когда Леший спрашивает вас, зачем вам это дерево. Leshy's wife is Kikimora, a small birdlike creature who spends most of her time in the marsh. It is said that she lives in a houseboat that drifts aimlessly, and any large mound or vaguely hut-shaped object moving in the mist could be Kikimora's home. Though small and frail compared to Leshy, Kikimora possesses great magical power, and is the only being able to control the marsh ogres. It is said that one should say her name three times if one encounters a marsh ogre, and Kikimora will appear before you and banish the ogre.

Кикимора жена Леши, маленькое птицеподобное существо, которое большую часть времени проводит на болоте. Говорят, что она живёт в плавучем доме, который бесцельно дрейфует, и любой холм или смутно напоминающий хижину предмет, движущийся в тумане, мог быть домом Кикиморы. Хотя маленькая и слабая по сравнению с Лешим, Кикимора обладает огромной магической силой и является единственным существом, способным контролировать болотных огров. Говорят, что нужно трижды произнести её имя, если встретишь болотного огра, и Кикимора предстанет перёд тобой и прогонит огра.

Leshy and Kikimora were once friendly, or least ambivalent, toward people, but the crafty Goblin King was able to turn them both against people.
