From world class experts, to content creators

September 4.th - 7.th Content Marketing World had its 7.th annual event at Huntington Convention Center, Cleveland, OH.
4 000 attendants from more than 50 countries, 225 speakers, amongst them keynote speakers Linda Boff, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Casey Neistat, Kate Santore, Colson Whitehead and Jay Acunzo.

These are 12 quick tips from Content Marketing World 2017, that I think you will find helpful.

  1. Find your audience. You don´t need to reach everyone. It´s all about hitting your defined group of people through the different channels.

  2. Answer your audience needs. There are two reasons why people visit your home page or profile.

    • They want your products or services.
    • They are looking for information. And there is eight times more people looking for information than those wanting to buy your product or service. Do you answer the questions they are asking?
Find the need of the audience and make it readily available on your webpage or SoMe profile.
  3. Set concrete goals to your strategy. Do you want 10 000 views in a month? Use your energy and focus to reach this, and only this for the period.

  4. Don´t forget the content you already have. It´s not about producing the most, but the best possible quality content. If you´re content is evergreen (always relevant), or have content that has become relevant again, update and distribute it again. Remember to not change the URL. It´s important that you bring in earlier readership and gain organic traffic..

  5. Cut the bullshit. You only have a couple seconds to catch and hold the reader, so make sure and get to the point fast. Keep the text short and cut down on redundant words and difficult concepts,

  6. Make content that means something for someone. There´s a lot of general content out there. Make unique, tailor made content, that really means something. If your content isn´t meaningful enough, it becomes part of the noise. People don’t buy your product, they buy the feeling it gives them. Do not expect conversion – inspire it.

  7. Share your best tips and tricks. Are you afraid your competitors will see your tips? Don´t. Those that share knowlede are generous. People want to buy from the generous. Furthermore, you will rank higher in searches if your tips are the best in your field of work.

  8. Distribuiton. To make your content visible you need to put down some effort in reaching the right audience. A main rule is to spend more money on distributing great content than you do producing it.

  9. Influencer marketing. Finding the right influencer is more than the number of followers. Does it have the right audience? An influencer must have a strong personality, be trustworthy and appeal to audience emotions. The content you create must be fun, relevant and inspire to action with the reader. Remember that a smart influencer questions the assignment and wants transparency throughout the whole process.

  10. Call to action. What do you want to achieve with your content? Do you want to convert to more sales, do you want more followers on Steemit or do you want more subscribers to your newsletter? Choose one Call to action to your content and make sure it´s visible all the time. To many Call to actions make people confused.

  11. Make separate content for mobile devices. Native advertising on cell phones is more than advertising on a small screen. You need different measures to engage and entertain. What mode is the recipient on this platform? What technical and creative measures can you use to meet this mode?

  12. Creativity can come from anywhere – and anyone. Estée Lauder uses user generated content and experience 6.9 times as good response on it, rather than what they produce themselves.
