Actually, in the U.S. (or at least here) they are practically crushing anyone who doesn't have the means to get by. They spend half their time going around harassing poor people telling them they can't park anywhere when they have nowhere to go. Then, they pin them with fines that they can't pay, so they can eventually have their vehicle towed when they get another citation, leaving them with truly no place to go. Such is the way this country has turned. They keep the necks of the poor under their heels and suck the money from the taxpayers like vicious parasites - and they got their power from the people who look the other way.
ANYWAY ... rant complete... The other problem here on the coast is the tourist season. A lot of businesses jack up the prices of staying in RV's because of the increased traffic and demand. Often, the parks won't even accept long-term renters because they don't want to give a better deal. They make a killing on the single-dayers or single-weekers. Can't blame them entirely.
Reality is, it's costing us $54 a night to park our RV at the Casino, which is not reasonable to me. So, I'd rather put some gas in the tank and run the generator for free in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. We probably won't run into to much trouble as long as we move from time to time.
Another small ranty note: They don't mess with people who have decently nice RV's, usually. Only the ones who don't look like they have enough money to buy much at the store....
...even though it is supposed to be Wal-Mart policy to let people camp in the parking lot... However, this specific Wal-Mart is privately owned and does not respect the Corporate wishes of the larger chain, evidently. Either that, or they only pander to people who they think their Corporate counterpart would take seriously. I.E. people who aren't broke.
ADHD: AWESOME DUDE HAPPY DUDE!!!! YES... I LOVE IT!
Potato chip: Actually might have been a Sun Chip or a Juanita's tortilla chip... the ketchup might have really been salsa... hmmm... ;P
Sounds fucking shit dude.
Here a person could free camp provided they move from one to the other (most have a limit of a few days to a week) and live that way indefinitely. Some are simple roadside stops for travellers to overnight in and some are in the best locations ever. We go remotely but in our travels use free camps. We have found some amazing places, creeks, swimming holes, bushwalks, seclusion, fishing, scenery...Some are better than the commercial enterprises although facilities are less. Basic toilets, a shower sometimes; Sometimes nothing.
There are literally thousands of them. An app called wikicamps is what we use. https://www.wikicamps.com.au/
Check the free camps tab in this link for an idea.

P.s. Now I want chips. Lol.
That is so awesome. Wish we could live there!
P.S. Chips are AWESOME. I hope you find some good ones. What's your favorite flavour (spelled your way)? ;P
You'd like it here.
Smiths chicken chips or salt and vinegar are my go-to flavours but I like corn chips too, nacho cheese.

I'll be honest though, I'm a bit of a slut when it comes to chips (called crisps in the UK I believe) and will slut around between flavours and brands.
Ah! Now when I visit Australia I'll recognize the best chips in the .au. :) "Life would be straight without... Twisties." Maybe I'll have to try some "Twisties" some day.
Did you read the article in one of the links you sent about "Keep Freedom Camps Open!" Something about them closing down some of the camps and making them not RV friendly. (something that started with the COVID thing.) I didn't read the entirety of the article, just that they were lacking funding and 4 large businesses were weighing in a negative affect on the camps or something. They were asking for donations.
Love me some Twisties. Not the chicken ones though, cheese is where it's at.
I didn't read any no, bit I'm not surprised, everyone is looking for handouts. The free camps are often maintained by local council and that takes money I guess. Most have a gold coin ($1 or $2) donation thing. We always drop $5, especially for a good one.
Right on. Cheese twisties... but Chicken Chips... All Smith's... and ALL Delish!
That little rhyme should help. :P
Nothing like a good impromptu rhyme to get the chip-juices flowing...Although I don't need much help to want chips.
