I bet I could make a dairy-free version of this with the right chocolate chips. I recently baked an old favorite chocolate zucchini cake recipe using fake sour cream, and dark chocolate chips on the top. It was fine, except those chips didn't melt at all. Weird. So I wouldn't use that kind in your recipe!
