Orvium is the first open source and decentralised framework for managing scholarly publications’ life cycles and the associated data. Using Orvium, scientific work is available immediately, providing an independent, decentralized and immutable time-stamped proof of existence, authorship and ownership. All related activity like submissions, revisions, peer reviews, copyright and user licence changes are publicly available and transparent. Authors get to decide the licencing and copyright model. Research data, code, big data analytics, and valuable insights from machine learning can be shared with owners fully in charge of with whom, and how it is shared. Decentralised journals, offer a low maintenance and autonomous way to handle and categorise scientific literature.
The ORVIUM (ORV) Token aims to enable a fair cost and transparent business model to support global research. Authors and editors can receive payment for their contributions. ORV empowers journals to become viable and sustainable at a low cost. When submitting manuscripts, authors can stake tokens to be claimed by reviewers. The manuscripts are publically available for the whole community, authors remain in full control over the licensing and copyrights. If using a paid model, consumers pay ORV to access the content.
Journals are managed by smart contracts, this allows open and transparent management. Contributors receive the revenues generated based on their contribution and the rules defined in the smart contract. The operational costs associated whith reviews, copyright agreements and Orvium Licenses are covered by the stake of the owners.
