As the kids get older, going out with mom and dad is becoming less of a priority for them. The first thing my twins say to me when I tell them we are going somewhere is : "Who is coming?"
And rightfully so. I think we all reach that point in our childhood where hanging around our parents wasn't cool anymore / hanging out with your friends is more fun.
I can really understand where they are coming from, another side of me wishes they would enjoy the company of their own family more, but I guess that could be my fault: too tired, too busy, too angry, ..... let me chill.
On this particular day, we were invited to watch fireworks at one of their classmate's parents' business as it is right in front of the event. I happened to run into his Dad the day before at the super market and he told me about the fireworks and how it could be seen from his new business...and access to parking.
I kinda didn't think too much of it as my boys are always busy with football on the weekends. But on that day, their football night practice was canceled because of rain. I took it as a chance to spend some time.
The particular friend of theirs isn't that much into structured sports activities, so during the summer they don't get to meet much. They also needed some time. In my mind, if I can facilitate my kids having a good time with their friends, that's a good thing. They don't need to spend all their living days with their parents. Kids need to get out and socialize and we as parents provide, guide and facilitate interesting and inspiring experiences. But no one or situation is perfect so we do what we can.
Growing up! I still remember them on the beach in Jamaica like little turtles! The fireworks look fabulous, hope you all had a great evening.
Looks like the kids now want to try out things buy themselves instead of following any of their parents to where they often go. Anyway, you still need to talk sense into them to avoid them going astray😊
Cause at the end, I things don't go well, the blame will still be on the parents.
