Children do grow up and begin to not respect our advice and opinions nearly as much as they used too. It is always our instinct to keep them safe, and for good reason. In my twenties I lived in South America and Puerto Rico off on my own away from my parents in the US. I was fortunate enough to have a kind lady in Puerto Rico who became a surrogate mom, and would give me advice that actually helped me do better in life and stay safe. It's a shame our kids don't listen forever, but today they get so much garbage from social media and they believe it. It's kind of scary...
It sounds like you have done a wonderful job as a mother, when your son has kids he will realize it and thank you. It's sad that it takes that change in their lives for that to happen, but I think it's how the world has always worked... loo

You know, how much ever you have raised your child with love and care still the outer world does take over on them at times. The social media and the school influence is so strong these days that sometimes a parent find themselves powerless against their own child, not just in adulthood but even in their teens. You are right, there is so much garb put in their head and some children do not have the ability to process them in the right manner and they go against their own parents, thinking their parents are their enemy. In India also we are seeing this change, whereas a decade back it was a different scenario. So many of these activists are also spreading wrong messages through continous protests and brainwashing young minds.
