Patriarchy
Do men in your house get priority over the women? Are the females of the house treated equal to the men? Why are females expected to do all household chores while they work and earn equivalent to men? Why are men considered to be more powerful?
There is an endless list of such questions that females of our society might have in their minds. But what are we doing to answer these questions? As females, we have also kind of accepted the fact that men are a superior class. We treat the men of our house differently as if they are God.
This is the kind of mentality induced in us since our child hood. We have been always told that men are superior. Rather than questioning and fighting this stupidity, we have accepted it with full faith and support it all day long.
Problem of the society
The major problem of our society is the women not respecting their own selves. Women themselves feel they are inferior to their men. They do not ask their husbands and sons to get involved in household chores when they themselves are working day in and out professionally and personally.
It’s the kind of thinking our society has induced in us that makes us feel inferior. As women we must understand how powerful we are and respect our contribution to the society. We just not feel satisfied with the kind of differential treatment we get at our homes and question people when they treat us differently.
We tend to forget that what we are experiencing right now will be passed on to our daughters as well and they will also suffer. It’s time we break such shackles of the society and fight for our rights.
We deserve equal treatment and respect no matter what.
