Overbudgetting
This is more for prebuilts than custom builders, but some people will just drop in with $3,000 with a use it or lose it mentality like they’re in the military. If your goal to get something that can run Valorant or any less demanding game at a decent rate, the max you should pay for is sub $1000. Most prebuilds after that are ridiculously expensive, and you’d be better off building your own pc at that point. Price ≠ performance and it's just a waste of money unless you're so rich you don't know where to spend it lol.
For custom builders, the upper echelon of computers are the peak definition of diminishing returns and is just overcompensating at that point. So unless you’re using it for extreme productivity or you’re specifically going something like 4K at 144 fps, $2,000 is enough for most high tier builds.
Underbudgeting
On the flip side, some people slap $500 on the table and expect a 4K resolution. There’s a reason why most pc enthusiasts reommend to buy a console if your gaming budget is at or below $500, because well, you’re probably getting a better deal at that point than with a prebuild.
If you’re just looking for any pc that can do basic functions for a small business, then go for it, but if your looking for decent specs like 1440p at 60fps, or rendering 4K footage, anything below $1000 in terms of prebuilds and you’re gonna have to make some compromises.
From my perspective, a rx 6600xt + a generic 5600 or an i5 12400 CPU is a good baseline for 1080p/1440p gaming at over 60 fps.
Trusting OEMs
If you buy from Alienware or any similar oem , then most probably you will complain about bloatware or not being able to upgrade the hardware in the future.
