Weekend Getaway to Bantayan North of Cebu

This was a seriously much needed short trip away from the bustling City. The choice of destination was between Bantayan and man was it a good one.

It was really easy to get there, taxi to the north bus terminal, 4 hour bus to Hagnaya port and then a Ferry to Santafe.

Upon arrival you need to walk a little while to get to the tourist office where you fill a form and pay the last of quite a few usage fees that you’ll pay on the way there.

We had booked an airbnb which I think was way worth it compared to the resorts, and this cane with a free pickup service, the driver stopped at a grocery store for us to pickup supplies ( beer and wine) lol and off we went to our accommodation for the weekend.

At this point we were totally starving and eager to rent a motorcycle from the driver so we could do some exploring, so we got our motorcycle at 350 peso per day and rode into the small town of Santafe where we had spotted an Italian restaurant opposite the grocery store.

Food was great and affordable The owner is from Italy and has been in the Phul for years. Him and his girlfriend were just lovely and they all helped with sharing info like the atm location and recommended stuff for us to do.

Gorgeous Bruschetta served with all the pastas

We tried the day’s special which was penne al fume

The al fume was creamy and delicious with brandy and bits of bacon, really a treat

The rest of our itinerary included ridding all the way to the northern tip of the island where we stopped over at a tinny bar and enjoyed a cold one while singing karaoke with some local lads. We went to a popular mangrove and took pics ate more, drank more, wEnt skydiving, which I’m dedicating a whole post to and chilled beachside.

All in all a really chilled weekend away, lots to see eat and drink.

Next post will be the skydiving experience, and our tiny motorcycle crash, nothing serious, just a few scratches and bruises.
