Does your Participation in Social Media have Value?

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

In the well-known and traditional forms such as Facebook and Twitter, the answer is a resounding YES! Unfortunately, the value of that participation is absorbed into advertising and data-mining dollars for those massive companies.

Along comes Daniel Larimer, and suddenly steemit.com is out here declaring that the value of your participation belongs to you! I’m fairly new to steemit (joined less than a week ago), but from what I see, it looks like quality activity is actually recognized and rewarded. Thoughtful posts with good information and helpful insights rise to the top.

Not having dabbled in crypto currency, I’ve been very unclear in the workings of a blockchain and how financial growth is attained, but I’ve seen enough to be convinced that it does work. Furthermore, having read some posts by Daniel Larimer @dantheman , https://steemit.com/philosophy/@dantheman/why-do-we-fight-to-change-the-world I believe he is a thoughtful and sincere human, and not some big business guy trying to exploit technology, and other tech users, solely for personal gain. He appears to be just a person (very intelligent) trying to live in the moment, to deal with his own existence in this small part of the universe we inhabit, and perhaps in some way do good. His disdain for violence is clear, and his posts have helped me to remember that we are all connected (hurting others is only hurting one’s self).

So lets take a ride on steemit! and in the spirit of cooperation and love, let me tell you that- Your Participation is Valuable! and I hope each and everyone of you may receive some reward for it! Post your thoughts, provide information, communicate, and help each other.

It is good to read that the founder of this platform is a decent human being with a progressive philosophy. Too many crypto projects are led by shady individuals with scammy motives.

It is clear from using Steemit for a little while, that here is a pervasive culture of rewarding good content and genuine community interaction.
