Individualism vs Collectivism

in #philosophy8 years ago

Many debates have been generated around these two totally antagonistic ideologies.

Over the centuries, the greatest thinkers made great strides in the progress of humanity supported only by their own ideas and visions.

Since the most ancient times, any kind of invention or discovery by these men was overwhelmingly rejected.

They were even accused of being the "children of the devil" or something like that without any kind of sense. It's pretty funny now to remind that haha.

But real men with farsightedness never gave up, not before, not now nor in the future.

They fought, they suffered, they paid -big- for it but they finally won.

And creators were never influenced by the idea of "please" that thing called "common good"

Their own work was their own goal for their own benefit, not for others to be the beneficiaries.

This idea of obtaining benefit by own work has always been the motivation of people to outdo themselves and become the best they could be.

Nobody in life works to serve someone else or some group of people.

Imagine how it would be if someone removed that benefit from you. Probably you'll lose all motivation to move forward, the progress and make the best of yourself would be completely meaningless, right?

Thanks to this kind of thinking, humanity advance increasingly rapid and more effectively. Thanks to ambitious people who decide to undertake large projects, always with the intention of profiting correctly. (When I say "correctly", I mean without harming the individual rights of other individuals of course)

What differentiates us from animals is that we are thinking beings. We are individual beings with different types of thinking, different pleasures, different goals. That's what makes us humans.

And the mind is an attribute of the individual being. It is inconceivable that a "collective" brain exists.

That is why the man who is aware of this, often think and act for himself.

The mind or the desires of a person can not be subordinate to the wishes of others, should never be subject of sacrifice. I personally prefer literally die rather than surrender this right.

What is life without own thinking? As I said, we would be animals. And I refuse to live like an animal.

The creator stands firm in his convictions, the parasite follows the opinions of others.

The creator thinks, while the parasite copy.

The creator produces, the parasite loots.

The creator treats others with voluntary free exchange, the parasite treats men as if they were tools to act together and be enslaved for the "common good". COME ON!

All great achievements in mankind have arisen by independent men, independent minds.

While on the other hand, all attempts to force humanity to become robots without brains and without souls, without personal rights, without personal ambition, without will and dignity have always brought disgrace, chaos, misery, destruction and death.

Collectivism can be implemented in all cases by the use of force, only force.

Whenever I ask: How can I think about the benefit of others without thinking about mine first? I always answer myself: I REALLY CAN'T, IT IS BLOODY IMPOSSIBLE!

After all of this, I don't really need to explain how collectivism works.

What I have to say to you.

Be loyal to yourself. Be your own person.

Viktor Frankl is a writer and psychologist, who was stripped of all his liberties during the Nazi extermination. He was in the concentration camps and in his book called "Man's Search for Meaning" says the man can be removed from all their liberties except for one ... Freedom of thinking, freedom of what attitude to assume in a situation , and that is something entirely individualistic.

He even in the worst of cases, as it was being held in a Nazi concentration camp, remained attached to this thought.

Be yourself and self you will find.

Great post ricky, collectivism is a disease that the rulers love. You all are equal, expect for me and my friends - we are more equal than you all.

I am glad to see you mentioned that individuals invent and create. They go above and beyond because they can claim the benefit that their creations give them. Under collectivism the benefit goes to all, so why bother expending all that effort under a system like that?

That's exactly what i'm talking about my friend! it's great to know that someone else thinks very similar ;)
