What is true love?

in #philosophy4 months ago

The above images are from a book by Jiddu Krishnamurti. JK needs no introduction to a person interested in philosophy. If you do need one, then it must mean that you have read less on philosophy.

This is the book from where those pages were photographed.

At first. I was wary of reading books by him. I thought that philosophical matters were beyond me. I came across this book and on a whim, I started reading it and it seemed to make a lot of sense. That is why, I took photos of some pages and decided to write about it on hive.

I hope that it inspires you to buy or lend it to read this small book.

Philosophy is not something that is beyond the reach of the common minds like me. If it was, then Swami Vivekananda would not have traveled across the globe to preach to thousands of people. It was because of him that the West got to know about the greatness of India and its culture. Otherwise, it was portrayed as a land of poverty and snake charmers and slaves.

India has always been the land of the philosophers.
"I can see God more clearly than I can see you." These words of Bhagavan Ramakrishna Paramahamsa awakened the spirit in Swami Vivekananda.
If only mere mortals like me heeded his advice and decided to begin a relationship with god rather than slave for money and fame. Then again, the lure of money is like an addiction that cannot be given up, is it not?

Just as Swamy said, it is time to stop the struggles against differences and start to accept the differences. Unity is the need of the hour. Peace is what is desired.

True love is when people learn to forget the differences and not even remember that there are differences when they come upon a neighbor or a friend from another community.

In today's context, numerous television channels are nothing but poison and do nothing but poison the ears of the viewer. Such channels manipulate and also try to influence the mind of the viewer in such a way that man is ushered into the mob mentality. To add to such propoganda, social media apps are also widely used.

If you as a person have a unique opinion, then you should avoid watching television altogether. Also, the YouTube channels repeat the same stuff.

I agree that man is a social animal but it does not mean that he is not an individual with a unique personality. It is time for humans to get rid of the past influences that have prevented this society from progressing and work for a better future. It is time for the humans to think ahead and not be stagnant.

True love is all about sharing and caring but it does not mean that you have to give up everything. You can still have what you own and use it to better the life of your own and those that you can help.

Think about it.

True love, huh? That's some deep territory you're diving into. Props for picking up Jiddu Krishnamurti's work and sharing the wisdom. It's wild how philosophy can seem so out of reach until you find that one book or quote that just clicks. I feel you on the whole 'philosophy for the common mind' vibe.

Breaking free from that money chase ain't easy. It's got its hooks deep, like any other addiction.

The call for unity and peace is timeless, and it's super relevant with all the noise today. TV, socials, you name it – there's a lot of static out there trying to drown out our own thoughts. Ditching the screen to find our unique voice, it's a power move.

It's about uplift, not surrender. Keep these thoughts coming! 🙏

Thank you so much. ♥

@sayee, Namaste , You have written very beautifully. This is very inspiring. True love never demands anything in return. Be it money or anything else, there is no demand. Just for love's sake, that's all. You are right; there was never a dearth of philosophers in India. You have given the perfect example of Swami Vivekananda. It is very important to have love for God like Swami Vivekananda ji. If there is a thirst for God like his, then everyone can find God. But thirst is like Swamiji. Thank you
