Escaping Cabin Fever post lockdown

in #photgraphy5 years ago

I have literally had a break from the internet….. last Monday I got in my car with a full tank of petrol and headed inland.
After negotiating late afternoon peak hour traffic I eventually found myself on a farm just outside a small town called Riviersonderend on a farm named KRABGAT of which I have written before.
Sundowners on the stoep (colloquial for verandah, and yes I have zero problem drinking on my own!!!)

The next morning I headed out to the Southernmost tip of the African continent stopping at STruisbaai.

No plans, just chill with a book and my camera.

It was so good to escape the cabin fever of the continued lockdown which had been lowered to Level 2 the previous day.

For me the most scary part of the lockdown… and the issue that made me…almost FORCED me to get in my car and drive was…. I was becoming reluctant to leave the house, complacent in my comfort zone. Not fear of Covid … but just a lethargic malaise and an indifference which rather frightened me

I was away for a week and the break was fantastic ... I even started running again and it feels terrific. Travel zest reignited for which I am extremely grateful.

I sat down intending to continue my album countdown and got sidetracked. Slot #82 coming up soon.

As always, Thanks for stopping by.
