Hi Folks!
What makes the Lofoten Islands so unique?
Well, I think everywhere when high, dramatic mountains meets the sea coast - it must look simply stunning.
Even mountains as high as 200-300 meters, which are growing straight from the sea level, looks extreme and stunning.
On Lofoten we can find many much higher peaks, in fact, there are whole mountain ranges which have over 800 meters. Their wall going straight down to the sea shore.
If we connect such mountains with sandy beaches, beautiful wooden architecture of fishing villages, crystal clear waters of the northern sea, dynamic weather and magical light of the north - we will get the perfect mixture to create an ultimate photographic playground, real heaven for all landscape photographers!
In the summer we can shoot there whole night during never ending golden hour.
In the wintertime, we can shoot golden light whole day and hunt for Aurora Borealis during long nights.
The weather there is quite mild comparing to other northern parts of the world.
The influence of warm streams in the sea make the Islands warm up during wintertime, temperatures below zero are often but never reach crazy values as inland.
Summer temperatures can be close to 20, even 30 degree Celsius, but most of the time is around 15.
Below I will post big gallery of different shots from different locations showing the variety and beauty of Lofoten's mountains and its role in the landscape.
