Benjy found the words to those questions Kyle texted the group last. He worked twice as much, rotating between an athletic shoe store to fulfillment for an online giant, picking, packing and slapping. Even at this hour, the dog days of summer counted down slowly, as if she pondered her last response. He consented to the hare-brained scheme, like the other three, albeit his thoughts sparked more intrigue. His honesty made him someone Kyle needed for the plan to succeed. Kyle disconnected often, like his Wi-Fi reception in his attic room, a sign the network or the hardware begged some change. Like his Haitian friend admitted, Kyle could lose sight of things ‘later on’, preoccupied with ‘what’s right now.’ His last girlfriend sensed it too; Kyle wore glasses and still suffered from short sight. His self-reliance would require but reciprocate teamwork if only they teamed up. Kyle sat up late that night aiming for just that.
