Finland celebrates 100 years of Independence today and the timing yesterday of me going out to snap a few photos couldn't have been better as we got some snowfall during the evening. Today I went out for a longer walk to seize the opportunity of taking more photos while the snow hadn't melted away yet as its still not under 0 degrees celsius here.
Flags raised everywhere, there was almost no house or buildings without a flag today.
The weather was a bit cloudy
Living up north during winter time we only get sunlight a few hours a day, this is probably the highest the sun rises before it starts to set again
Walking towards the park, a few candles had been placed at a memorial stone on this day
The Minnow/Dolphin of the park had gotten some snow on its wings
There was an old man walking while throwing bread crumbs on his trail, seemed like all the birds were gathering around and following him, I did followed along for a while too
I liked the reflection in the water here
The football field was all snowed in, but luckily they had already set up the ice rink
The zoom on my camera was not so impressive... :P
Global warming sure must confuse a lot of bird life these days
I love it when everything turns this white
Now as I got hom at 3 PM the sun seems to already be on its way to set. :)

Wow very beautiful capture of wonderful nature. We have never experienced such types of climate in north east part of India. It looks like heavenly very beautiful white velvet carpet on the ground. It has snowed a bit before too but only lasted a couple days due to the temperature still being too warm. :)

OMG so jealous! Here in Israel we got a bit of rain today. Still working with the windows open as it's not cold enough to close them yet.
Happy independence day to finland, well going outside at 0 degree is not easy task at all but you did it and wow i really enjoy watching your photographs especially the Minnow/Dolphin of the park, the reflection of the clouds in the water and man the way you capture those flying birds, it's so skillful indeed, thanks for sharing this amazing photography with us, Stay awesome.

Finland is a beautiful country and congrats on your country's wonderful milestone.
I love seeing pics of everything white also...such beauty. However, being in the tropic, I am not a fan of the cold.
What has always intrigued me is the long periods of darkness in the winter.....how do you find that affects the attitudes of the people? Is this period one where an increase in depression is experienced? It is tough here where we have between 13-14 hours of darkness...I cant imagine only have 6 or 8 hours of daylight.
