Checking up on my plants one morning, I came across this little surprise of rogue mushrooms growing in my Haworthia pot.

Naturally, I grabbed my camera so I could take some photos of what I am now refering to as a 'Photographer's Delight'

(ref: ok, I've been playing Runescape and brewing Chef's Delight in Keldagrim)

Anyhoo, after taking some of my first shots, I noticed the beautiful, contrasting textures and tried to highlight them using the available light.

The cap and gills of the mushroom being so delicate alongside the rough, bumpy surface of the succulent.

What do you think? Did I succeed in capturing those textures?

For a while now, I've been thinking about buying a macro lens and I've come to realise that I really do have a 'thing' for textures so it's looking more and more like a good investment; so I may just buy that lens sooner than later.

Although, no matter because I still enjoyed taking the photos and while some of the first photos were taken without much thought, I did remember to 'think like a photographer' before the opportunity withered away and I still managed to get a good variety of shots to choose from.

At the end of the day, its you, the viewer that benefits from my enjoyment, so I only hope you like them as much as I do.
