“If you don't like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes.”
– Mark Twain –
It's been a beautiful day in New Hampshire.
One of those days when I liked the weather. Despite waiting all day, and Mark Twain notwithstanding, the weather did not change.

Mount Chocorua was a glorious sight this morning.
This view of the mountain to the north is taken from a bridge at the southern outlet of Lake Chocorua.

I found it interesting that I could trace out "N" and "H" patterns in the wooden fence along the edge of the bridge. Can you see them?
A satellite view gives you an idea of how the bridge is situated.
The Narrows Bridge crosses a channel leading to Little Lake. From there, the flow continues southward as the Chocorua River. It's an ideal location for a Mount Chocorua photo opportunity.

Some real photographers were taking advantage of the day.
We exchanged greetings, and it was obvious to me that they were delighted with the combination of snow, ice, and spectacular weather for capturing the beauty of the mountain.

I am quite happy with the shots I got with my cellphone camera.
I continue to be amazed at what is possible with this moderately priced, multi-purpose, super-computer/camera that I carry around in my shirt pocket.
The lake is solidly frozen for the most part.
We saw some ice fisherman a ways further north. Lake Chocorua is the site of the annual Tamworth Sled Dog Race. However, here at the south end, the exit flow of the water under the Narrows Bridge leaves some patches unfrozen, as you can see along this edge of the lake on the northeast side of the bridge.

Looking southward from the bridge,
you can see a sizable unfrozen area of Little Lake. Right at the apex of that area, an interesting rock protrudes above the surface of the lake.

The Chocorua Lake Conservancy
maintains this area. This sign and an drop-box opportunity to donate to the effort are situated near the east end of the bridge.

We spent part of the day in North Conway.
On the way south, passing the lake in the evening, we stopped for another photo opportunity in a slightly different location overlooking the lake from a modest height. From this vantage point, you can see the mountain illuminated by the setting sun.
Some soul, braver than I, appears to have walked through the snow bank in order to gain a less obstructed view of the lake and the shadows filling in the valleys gracing the flanks of the mountain.

I found this final shot amusing.
Taken from the bridge earlier in the day, this tree has what appear to be Christmas ornaments celebrating the season. However, if you click on the image and zoom in, you can see what they actually are-a couple of stray fishing bobs left by some hapless fishermen.

In all, it was a lovely day.
Thanks for joining me on the trek to Mt. Chocorua, New Hampshire.

You are why I'm here on Steemit!
I have very eclectic interests and hope, over time, to write about them all.
nice winter solstice photos a la Frost - darkest evening of the year
Dark indeed!
But, what a gorgeous day we had today! Wow!!! :D
I love days like this. Fresh snow, crisp air, blue skies, amazing surroundings.
I opened the photo to see the fishing bobs on the tree....haha....I wonder if someone threw them up there for fun. I did see the NH in the fence!! I wonder if that was done purposely.
Sounds like a beautiful day in NH for you. And your phone camera makes you a photographer, just saying. :) You take great photos and blog well about them. Enjoyed walking the trails with you.
Thanks for visiting and commenting, my friend. Yes, I wonder the same thing about the fence as well... It seems likely that it was purposeful.
I've seen enough people fishing there in warmer weather to believe that the presence of the bobs is accidental... :D
Glad you enjoyed the views! At least one more scene to come in the near future, God willing...
Photography is a very nice hobby. I find it relaxing and then get the added benefit of seeing again what I had previously experienced. Except I see it differently because the camera picks up the things I missed.
One day I will get to join.

Thank you, Troy. Merry Christmas.
Excellent Photo's , we don't see snow here, the N is reversed , of course ( for people sailing ( or surfing) to New Hampshire).
Have a Wonderful Peaceful Christmas and New Year , My Friend!
Hello, my friend! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Some of the Ns are reversed, some not. And, there is a complete "NH" in a vertical orientation, like this:
N
H
But then again, I see patterns everywhere... ;)
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year also, @awgbibb.
The pictures shoe true definition of nature.
Merry Christmas in advance.
Thank you, @seanmalex. Merry Christmas to you as well. :D
Beautifully depicted - God's creation.
It's all around us - even in less picturess locations. Like a hologram, the beauty is reflected even in it's tiniest part, a sand crystal perhaps, or a beam of light reflecting off a drop of water. It doesn't get lost to those who open their eyes. 🌅
So very true, my friend.
Two people can look at the same thing, and only one will see the Glory of God...
Interesting and profoundly sad at the same time.
Love those mountain shots across the frozen lake and the grassy landscape. That portable supercomputer does a nice job. :)
Ah, yes it does a reasonable job; but I of course have my eye on a much better, and far more expensive one, that is just not yet to be... (until my Steem rises to the point where it will support me. ;)
Thank you for watching a great post. I look forward to seeing more beautiful posts for you
