Golden Moment

in #photography3 years ago

This photo is the fruit of a frigid sunrise photoshoot in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah, last December.

I shot it handheld, wide angle lens inches away from the icy water of a little creek that flowed past a picnic area near the park entrance. There's something I loved about the composition from the moment I saw it on the back of the camera, though and I can't decide why I like it or whether anyone else will. There's something about the beautiful sunrise color on the rock and the shadow shapes of the trees... What do you think?

I like the ice and I like capitol reef. You certainly are known for the otherworld awesome shots in comparison... but i'm just happy you're here. haha

Haha! I was happy to get to know Capitol Reef a little better, even if I never got far off the highway. It always bothered me that I'd driven through it a few times and never really photographed it. Cathedral Valley is still high on my Utah bucket list too.

Cathedral valley is one of my favorite places in utah... probably because it's a fun offroad drive

I'll need to get an off-road vehicle eventually. Hey, when your Trukla arrives, how much Hive would you sell your current ride for? ;)

Awesome to see you back here and with the great images as usual!

Hey, thank you! It's great to be back! :D

Great to see you posting here again and excellent shot! It has a lot going on but it all works very well together and it feels well balanced. Very cool...

Scott! How's it going? I feel bad I didn't try to say hi when I drove through Tahoe on this trip, I thought of you but I didn't have a lot of time and didn't know in advance when we'd be there - it was that kind of trip. My fiancee loved that part of California though, and we'll be back. 😁

Doh! What???

I totally understand, no worries. Congrats on the engagement. Glad to hear you'll be back. I had to move here after visiting... Definitely hit me up next time. Looking forward to seeing more photos of your trip! Cheers!

Oh. Side note... My real estate shoot numbers have been way down this last year. Homes sell fast with bidding wars and nobody needs to pay my rates. But print sales have been WAY up. I hope business has been good for you.

Thank you! She has family in that area too so it's even more inevitable that we'll be back and hopefully with more time. :)

I'm really glad your print sales are up at least - is that because of things you've done to grow that side of the business or is it an indication of increased interest in wall art with everyone being home?

Real estate for me has been rolling along busier than ever. Last summer through the fall were crazy. I guess it was a good year to have a lower priced volume model. This year started busy but then has been up and down. No idea what to expect. Ultimately I'd like to do what you do, nicer photos of nicer homes with prints on the side, but there's no market for that here that we can find.

Very cool!
It's not just me. A lot of artists I've talked to have said their sales are up. And yup, everyone seems to think folks are spending more time at home and bored with their walls.

Great to hear that you're keeping busy with the real estate work. So, the website large print sales and email orders have been doing a lot better than the gallery sales. These days, people seem to be more comfortable spending $ on art they have not seen in person. It's all been a bit different but been going good.

Interesting, very interesting... thanks for the inspiration! I'll have to dip my toes back into those waters. I've been all real estate all the time for these last two years and I find it hard keep the creative side of myself going. I love that you're so consistent with the creative side of your work!

Thanks man! I actually wish I was more consistent with getting out... Our new dog has been good for getting me out but also an excuse to not get out on bigger adventures lately.

The photo is fantastic, another level, the reflection on the ice looks like gold, it's really amazing my friend @derekkind

I'm glad you like it - thank you! :)
