Butterfly week wouldn’t be complete without at least one photo of a caterpillar. I’ve previously posted some monarch caterpillars and butterflies and a couple of black swallowtail butterflies, but never the swallowtail caterpillar. This may actually be one of the offspring of the black swallowtail butterfly that I posted laying eggs a couple of weeks ago since it’s from the same fennel plants she was on and the caterpillar was still pretty small. I really love the dramatic almost fine art look I was able to achieve with the composition and lighting. I’ve also included a closer crop of the caterpillar and one of the fennel bloom which until l examined on a larger screen had not noticed all the little aphids. 😮
