Peony - the oldest plant. This flower was revered in ancient Greece, where it was valued not only for its beauty. As you know, the ancient Greeks were terribly afraid of evil spirits, and believing in the magical power of flowers, they chose majestic peonies as defenders. Description of the beads from the pieces of peony roots that were worn around the neck from infancy - a clear example of the fact that this flower was endowed with miraculous properties. Peonies, the description of which is almost always accompanied by the myth of Peon, a skilful doctor who successfully treated both gods and humans, some associate with the Greek term "paionios", which means healing.
In China, 1500 years ago, the peony adorned the imperial gardens. Artistic court gardeners already then brought out new varieties. Surprisingly, the common people were not allowed to grow peonies in their garden. It was a very expensive flower, and until now it is considered a symbol of wealth and nobility. In our time to give this flower means the desire for good and prosperity.
In the Botanical Garden of the Moscow State University "Aptekarsky Garden" was a colorful, fragrant event - II annual "Month of Peonies and Irises". The exposition of the largest in Russia exhibition of pions and irises, it was presented over 200 varieties of irises and more than 300 varieties of pions.
Each variety was represented by several dozens of cut flowers to show lush bouquets in all its glory.

В Ботаническом саду МГУ «Аптекарский огород» прошло красочное, ароматное мероприятие — II ежегодный «Месяц пионов и ирисов». Экспозиция крупнейшей в России выставки пионов и ирисов- на ней было представлено свыше 200 сортов ирисов и более 300 сортов пионов.
Каждый сорт был представлен несколькими десятками срезанных цветков, чтобы продемонстрировать пышные букеты во всей своей красе.
