Hello friends ,

This post is about a photo that I captured while I was traveling along the eastern coast of India. There were many other photos that I clicked along the eastern ghats but this particular photo has a deeper meaning to it.

Two stories :

Like the two faces of a coin , this photograph narrates two stories about development of a region. In the photograph , we can an see two railway bridges. One of the bridges was recently abandoned to make way for a new bridge ,that being the second bridge in the photograph.

This divides the area into two regions and the bridges being the respective landmarks. The abandoned bridge depicts the dark side of development. It depicts "rejection" for the sake of development. There are people still staying in their huts under the rejected bridge , feeling ignored , feeling left out just because they couldn't taste development. The authorities obviously saw the condition of the bridge before abandoning it. It hurts to think that they couldn't see the condition of the people living under that bridge and totally ignored them. Development at what cost?

Not just in India , it's the same story worldwide , where the rich stays rich and poor , remains poor. This is just one of those examples where the authorities couldn't care enough about the fact that regional development ,which inturn leads to a countries development, is not possible till they lay their eyes upon every sector , everything living or non living. It won't be termed as development if everyone cannot be a part of it equally. And obviously not when the poor are suppressed under the results of so called development .

Is this the kind of development we need?
