My Life in the Mountains

in #photography4 years ago (edited)

When I shifted here to Muscat, it was a very different environment for me altogether. From any part of the city, all that I could see was Mountains and Sea. The culture of Oman is that we do not have any tall rise buildings. The maximum that is there is 10 floors, yes, something unusual for a country right. Where the whole world is competing on tall rise structures, possibly Oman is the only country where there are no approvals for tall rises. There are some other places also in the world, but they are majorly the Islands.

This way I will say that Oman has retained it's natural beauty. When you drive through the hilly roads you get a spectacular view of the Mountains and Sea around. Oman has a long coastline, so even the Sea views are breathtaking over here.

When I shifted here, I did not much appreciate these mountain views, because they looked very barren to me. In India I was used to seeing lush green mountains on our long drives, and here I would see all dry mountains, and I would feel like there is no attraction, and I would see them all around. But over the years I have started developing some kind of bond with them. I started feeling that there is a part of me which is deeply connected to them and like they communicate with me. This is no joke, but in the initial days, this was too much on my mind, and I would feel what type of nature is this, so dry. I would even get dreams of it regularly.

Now when I look at them, I feel there is this hidden beauty in them, they look majestic, like ruling the territory. Fierce, bold and brave is what I feel when I look at them. Over the weekends I prefer to go for long drives on the mountain tops. Reaching there gives me some sense of accomplishment, as if I have made it through the rough roads. The curves, the twist, the bends when I go through it, I feel like I am going through life, sometimes the bends are such that you do not know what is on the other side, only when you get closer you get the view. Life is also like that, we don't always know what lies ahead, there are so many twist and turns in life. Sometimes we go through smooth roads and then some roads are jerky. And when you reach your destination you feel mission accomplished.

I always love to give these poses at the edge of the cliff. I feel freedom in it.

Wonderful photos, they are arid but very imposing mountains. How is the weather up there?

The Mountains here are majestic. The weather is like 6 months of extreme summer and 6 months of pleasant winter, there is no rainfall here and thats one thing i miss terribly over here

Mountains can be so much serene and peaceful. Well done captures.

Yes, so true. Mountains are barren but one can fall in love with them after some time. I too liked these mountains when I was there. You again made me nostalgic!

Yes I can imagine, how it kind of takes you into flashback. These mountains are beautiful, but I still prefer the greens 😀

These are some gorgeous views! The pictures with you and the mist. . So nice!
