The ON AIR exhibition presents itself as an ecosystem in motion, hosting a choreography with several voices between humans and non-humans, where the works reveal the common, fragile, and ephemeral rhythms and trajectories that unite these worlds. ON AIR is built thanks to the multitude of these presences, animated and inanimate, which cohabit there.
The exhibition is like a whole, which reveals the strength of the entities that populate the air and the way in which they affect us: from carbon dioxide (CO2) to cosmic dust, from infrastructures and radio frequencies to new corridors of aerial mobility. These invisible stories, which make up the nature of which we are a part, invite us to rethink poetically how we inhabit the world - and to reevaluate our way of being human.
As predatory industrial activities exploit the Earth, deplete its resources and threaten entire ecologies, ON AIR celebrates new ways of imagining a planet freed from borders and fossil fuels, through new modes of knowledge production. . In this way, the exhibition responds to the challenges posed by the Anthropocene, a term proposed to describe an era of the Earth in which we now live, and which began when human activities had a global impact on the terrestrial ecosystem. This is particularly the case with the activities of Aerocene, an interdisciplinary artistic project initiated by Tomás Saraceno, which seeks to reactivate a common imagination in order to collaborate ethically with the atmosphere and the environment, that visitors are invited to attend. engage collectively in a planetary harmonization exercise.
ON AIR brings together a wide variety of collaborators, bringing together scientific institutions, research groups, activists, local communities, visitors, musicians, philosophers, non-human animals, celestial phenomena, all of whom participate in the life of the exhibition.
