In modern German "Baden" means "bathing" or "to bathe." As I understand it, there was a time when the plural of the noun "bath" was "Baden." In modern German the plural is "Bäder."
In any case, the history of the association of Baden Baden with baths goes back to the days of ancient Rome. The Romans called the area Aquae and in the early 2nd Century AD the Roman Emperor Caracalla visited the thermal baths there. Water can reach 68 degrees C (154 degree F.) The spa pictured below is named Caracalla. If you're ever in Baden Baden, after you get settled into your hotel, it's wonderful to visit the bathes after a long exhausting journey.

So wie ich es verstehe, war in der Vergangenheit die Mehrzahl von "Bad" "Baden". Also, heutzutage würde die Stadt "Bäder" heißen. Auf jeden Fall geht die Namensquelle auf die römische Zeit zurück. Die Römer nannten das Gebiet Aquae und im frühen 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr. Besuchte der römische Kaiser Caracalla dort die Thermen. Das Wasser kann bis zur 68 Grad Celsius erreichen. Das abgebildete Bad heißt Caracalla.
Humans have inhabited the area since the middle Stone Age (8000 - 4000BC.) By the 1600s it was a respectable city as you can see from this image dated 1643. Sadly Baden Baden was occupied by French soldier and then plundered and burnt to the ground in 1689. In the 19th Century it was returned to its former glory. Today, despite its small size, it is world famous for its spas, casinos, horse racing, parks and gardens.

Im Jahre 1689 wurde Baden Baden von französischen Soldaten besetzt, geplündert und dann niedergebrannt. Im 19. Jahrhundert erlangte es wieder seine frühere Pracht. Heute ist die Kleinstadt weltberühmt für ihre Spas, Casinos, Pferderennen, Parks und Gärten.

Baden Baden scheint eine traumhaft schöne Stadt zu sein und die Fotos mit deiner ganz speziellen Bearbeitung sind super!
In der Nähe von Wien gibt es auch ein Baden (Baden bei Wien). Die Geschichte dieser Stadt reicht ebenso in die Römerzeit zurück - die Römertherme mit ihren warmen Schwefelquellen erinnert noch daran.
