¡Hi guys!

I hope you are all very well. Today I wanted to share with you some photos I took during my trip to Mérida in December 2016. It was a very rewarding vacation and what I experienced wonderful, I fell in love with all the landscapes and nature that abounds in this city.

Only two of them I wanted to touch up a little with some filter, however the others I think it is better to appreciate their beauty leaving them to the natural.

Mérida is a mountainous city, tourists usually go to the most prominent sites, which are: Mucubají Lagoon, Ávila National Park and the cable car.

Of course there are many other places of great natural beauty, but those are the three main ones. In general, all places have impressive landscapes, even when you go on the road you can appreciate them.

The following photos are from the Mucubají Lagoon

In it there are many tourist trails that can be walked or through a fun tour on horseback supervised by a guide who will help you enjoy the ride more.

Then we have the Cable Car

It is a very exciting experience, as you go up you can see the beautiful panorama in front of you, you can even appreciate the whole city when you reach a high enough point.

The cable car has a total of three stations in which you can go down to take pictures and see some parks or viewpoints.

In one of the stops, you can see the hiking trail that can be traveled, even at the last stop has an attraction to jump on a parachute.

At some point of the route, as you go up you can see what is known locally as "Canas de la montaña", or gray hair, it has that name because the leaves of these trees stand out in a lighter color, almost white against the natural green the rest.

You could also appreciate while walking the trails the flowers that abounds throughout the tour.

Something interesting

Venezuela is a country with a mostly tropical climate, people tend to go to Mérida to experience a change in climate, since it is mostly cool and cold, especially when going up in the cable car. And in the Pico Bolívar and Ávila are the only places in the country where snow sometimes falls.

In that place, at the last stop of the cable car, known as Pico Bolívar, it was coincidentally snowing when we went. It was a unique experience, because, at least I had never seen or touched the snow, so it was very exciting. And I had a long time without snow in Mérida, it was a lucky coincidence.

I hope you liked the photos, if you have the opportunity to go someday, do not think about it, it will be totally worth it.

All photos were taken from my cell phone, Iphone 4s.
