I've been container gardening this year and something I wasn't expecting began growing. It didn't look like any of the garden variety seeds I had planted. Yet, it also didn't look like a common weed. So, I let it grow thinking I would be able to identify at some point.
Curiosity got the best of me so I decided to search the app store to see if there was a plant identifier app. I downloaded the Seek app and found out this was a Green Poinsettia.

Just to double check the info I tested the app with one of my tomato plants. Sure enough it labeled it correctly.

So, I figured it must also be right about the Green Poinsettia. Now I want to walk around the property and identify all the plants in the yard.
What I didn't know when I first downloaded it was that it also identifies birds, insects, and animals. Heck, there is even a section for fish! Cool, huh?
Here is the link to the app if you are like me and curious about a random plant or two growing around house.
Haha! But you were quite patient - must have taken a while for the leaves to unravel and grow etc. Green Poinsettia! What a nice surprise. Good thing you didn't mistake it for a weed. 😅 PlantNet's another app worth testing out!
The reason I was patient is because my style of gardening is:
For example, I will plant old cherry tomatoes that would normally find their way to the trash. In this way they have an opportunity to grow vs. winding up in the landfill. The tomato plant pictured above is a cherry tomato that was planted and grew.
Saving plants one seed at a time, haha! I like it @ecpodcaster 💚 Happy growing!
Fascinating. I have heard of similar apps that give accurate results like this one. Never really tried them as I'm not a plant person. But do you grow all your food?
I'm a bit of a lazy gardener. I'll take old tomatoes, green onions, celery, etc and plant them. Sometimes they grow. Sometimes they don't. I'll also take seeds from pepper plants and plant them to see if they'll grow. It's a fun way to garden since everything that grows is a wonderful suprise.
Wow, it's quite a useful app. I am also fond of gardening; sometimes it becomes difficult to identify plants and their diseases and properly treat them.

Sending Love and Ecency Vote!
Yes it can be challenging to garden. This app certainly helps in identifying what's growing.
My husband uses an app like this (I don't know if it's the same one or not, I never asked) to find out about all the weird bugs down here that we've never seen before.
Yes, the Gulf Coast does have a whole lot of interesting and sometimes scary bugs.
