THE TREE WAS PREGNANT

The wind heaved and clapped
Around a tree clothed with eyes,
Entire leaves, stalks, branches and trunk
One could only see eyes
Eyes blood red and luminous
Blinking out of resonance
Each eye possessing its own mind
And will.
The tree was pregnant
And it hungered,
It whined loudly quaking the earth beneath it,
And a force generated a pulling wind
Alive and with hands
To carve out a portal in space.
In flew the desired meal
In required quantity
Ten squirrels attached tail to lip
Flew through the portal
Into a suddenly opened mouth
The tree’s wide open mouth
Lips dripping blood
Millions of teeth arranged down to the throat.
Two cows head to head in a fight-like stance
Whirled through the portal
Into hell’s mouth,
Five Buffalo and a man,
Where sucked in and into the mouth,
More blood dripped as a meal went down,
Belch like thunder released a stench
Surrounding grasses fried up.
A tongue like Anaconda crept out
To lick up the dripping blood
And the mouth closed
Eyes taking up their space again
Watching, vigilant, ferocious,
Portal also closed,
To render a serene environment.
And the tree was pregnant,
About to deliver an abomination of all time,
A source of fear never before known,
A creature whose form lingers between plant and flesh.
She fed him blood from inception,
Creating a blood hound of all time.
