Who's making me mad?
If this is MY skin
Who am I giving
The right to slither in?
To get under
To irritate
To cause me to stew
To brew
This hate?
When I should just meditate
Which fights should be fought?
A thought is just a thought
A giant, hulking, inescapable thought
But I ought
To seek a peaceful path
Cling to calm
Let anger pass

Wise words. Anger can be such a detriment, always best to reserve anger as a tool and never allow the emotion part to take control.
I'm not sure how easily anger can be used as a tool (maybe because I've seen it misused more often) but it's probably not impossible under the right circumstances.
Many tools are misused. Anger is to be controlled, only expressed when it can be of a benefit. If we can distance ourselves from a situation and realize that when the anger isn't helping to achieve our goals, we need to shut it down. And then do it. Don't give the emotion a vote. #novote
I'm not sure if I agree, at least in my own case. Anger tends to cloud my judgement so that I make less sensible decisions but for someone who reacts to it differently, it might very well be put to good use under the right conditions. I'll be looking out for your posts when you start blogging.
Certainly everyone is different, and if you asked me 2 years ago, I wouldn't have thought that anger could be used without damage. But when applied rarely and with tact, like I said, it can be an effective tool.
At the point that we are controlling it, it removes the clouded judgment and becomes a useful ally. I digress, it's very uncommon anyways, mostly we strive to not let our anger show. Grace under fire. "Cling to calm". I love that!
Very good analysis of the usefulness of anger, if you ask me. I made a choice to keep that ember alive, for just incase. Otherwise one quickly (at my age, with my esoteric beliefs) is prone to become very neutral, practically indifferent. Of course, it comes with the more common risk that one becomes vitriolic and acrid and a proper burnt sausage.
Hmm! Such a nice piece. Not every fight should be fought. I've learnt an important lesson from this poem. Thanks for sharing @elementm
I suspect you've seen this lesson before in life but thanks anyway lol
