Leaning, stretching, over the edge
Trying to soak up the sun.
Pushing your limits past the ledge
Trying to have some fun,
Leaning, resting against the wall
Trying to catch your breath.
Hoping to avoid another fall,
Trying to outrun death.
Leaning softly upon his chest
Trying to hear his heart.
Feeling you’ll never pass the test
Trying to play the part.
Leaning, stretching over the ledge
Trying to hit replay.
Feeling you’ve been pushed past the edge
Trying to end this day.
Leaning, but grounded by strong roots
Trying to hold your weight.
Reminding you of your parachute
Trying to hold back fate.
