I used to think love was like heaven for a starter
Until I gave my heart to a he-devil prankster
He messed with it and left me battered and shattered
Now am afraid to look a guy in the eyes unshakened
I walk around the streets with a broken heart
But I only show the people I meet my smiling part
Some times I do not walk around by day with my hurt
I only allow my pains to emerge at night like a bat
I watch people laugh at joke endlessly
And I wonder what is funny about it immediately
Anyway, I pretend and laugh along mindlessly
But they have no idea the woman am covering carefully
A guy sat beside me at the movies last night
We talked, he smiled and made my world bright
At this point I was convinced I had found the one
Until a woman came along, gave him a kiss and took him along
Today I opened my window to stare at the street
I saw people happily in love walking hand in hand
Everyone seems to be very happy except me
But as I look more I saw something that changed my life
I saw a boy without shoes and torn cloths on the street
He was rolling a Tyre and smiling at himself
This boy was genuinely happy even in his state
No friends, he was busy playing by himself
Maybe If I learn to love myself like that boy
Maybe If I learn to be my own friend like that boy
Maybe if I learn to play by myself like that boy
I can smile and be happy just like him
Yes, I think I found the key
I need to love myself first
And not wait for others to love me first
My love is the most important love I need from any human
Am saying to myself, "Kweenzy love yourself"
You cannot love another if you do not love yourself
Be your friend and be your playmate
That is the key you need, use it right now..
