The line about the onions really resonated with me.

I remember someone cooking a spaghetti dish, and I asked innocently, "what's in the sauce?" and it was simply one ginormous enormous bowl of onions.

I could not believe it. This predatory vegetable, which savagely attacks the eyes of anyone who comes near it, was sneaking it's way into my meal.

The line "For better or worse, it's a beautiful curse" is like a poem within a poem. It's so strong, it stands on it's own. :)
