Not long ago the goal of our school system was to educate. Now it seem to be nothing but a government funded day care system.
Teachers pushing there views on students. Creating bias instead of a learning environment. Students are not even being taught how to read or right cursive. This simple fact is alarming to me, all of our historical documents are in cursive. The ones that give you the rights of being an American.
Here in Alaska our public education system is ranked 46th out of 50 states for K-12 schools. Our state spends $20,172 per student in 2015, that is the newest data I could find. Every student I know that decides to go on to higher education has to take remedial classes before attending.
There seems to be no structural learning now. The schools rival museums. When I attended elementary school it was a old brick building that my grandmother had graduated high school from.
All students need to learn is 4 walls, a roof and an educator that cares about the students.
Test scores keep dropping, common core was rejected by every top nation but America. America was ranked 14th in over all education in 2015. In 2017 we fell to 19th overall. 24% Illiteracy is highly disappointing, let that sink in for a moment.
My belief is this is intentional. A uneducated people is easer to control. Take your kids education into your hands and don’t let them be held back.
Each student needs to be held accountable for their actions, as does each educator.

I think kids are probably tired of the manufactured, cookie cutter, assembly line of socialist education. It's where motivation goes to perish, none of this gets better without fixing that.
This is why we choose to homeschool our grandchildren. I guess the democrats figure if they dumb down the next generation they will be able to do as they please and they will have no one to fight back. Many of the parents do not really care as they are free during school hours to do as they please.
We homeschool our kids also. It is getting harder to find curriculum that is valid. My wife @alaskahippie does a great job between the books and documentaries. I help mainly with the math. Can’t belive how they want kids to do math these days.
Common core math is just plain stupid. 2+2=4 no matter how you do it, but I have seen problems marked wrong because they did not do it the common core way. Unbelieveable!
