About current events in the United States

Yesterday, I saw in social media how a black person - yes, they are black just as I am brown. It's not racism, it's descriptive; a description needed for context - demanded a white, gymnast content creator and Instagram influencer to "make a statement and show her support" about the current events happening in the United States or risk being unfollowed and cancelled by the black community. I was completely outraged when I read this; the virtue signaling and entitlement of this girl, the absolute audacity she had to call for statements just because, according to some people, every leader of opinion in any given topic, must get involved in politics.

Cancel culture is happening all around thw world with an even bigger influence in the US. Whenever a loud and noisy community doesn't like something you say or how you think, when they disagree with your world view, they strive, lobby and activate to get you fired from your job, to alienate you from your community, to doxx you and if able, to threaten you. This Instagram influencer didn't take the bait and she just replied with a heart and a link to her statement about the issue aforementioned - written before it was demanded to her - and told the other girl goodbye with a heart emoji, classy.

What is happening in the United States is serious. I've been reading countless of articles over the past few days and hundreds of others over the past years, where authors wrote - and sometimes predicted - the current situation that started out in Minneapolis.

There are several narratives out there.

The left is sponsoring the riots destabilize the country and get some votes from swing states by blaming Trump; the right had inside men inciting people to violence to blame the state's government (after all, most riots are happening in democrat governed states); George Soros and globalists are funding the protests to encourage big government; the CCP is behind the protests to destabilize the US as a country... I could go on and on, there are countless theories about what really is behind these protests, but it definitely is not one black man's dead in the hands of police brutality.

Yes, it was police brutality. No, I don't deny there is economic, social and racial inequality in the US, but the death of George Floyd is just an excuse for the riots, the protests and the general turmoil that the US has become.

The truth is, backed by data, that the movement Black Lives Matter (BLM) has no real arguments other than social predispositions. Black people are not being convicted nor killed more than white people in the hands of cops. When you have 13% of the population committing more than 50% of the crimes (70% when it comes to gun related crimes), you are obviously going to have more convictions per capita and, more manslaughter cases (even though white people are killed way more in raw numbers, not per capita than black people). Anyway, I'm not here to discuss numbers, all I'm saying is BLM is a political agenda filled movement disguised as a social justice movement. Same as ANTIFA, but I'm not getting in that shithole, this piece is supposed to be just some thoughts about the current events in the US and I'm already getting political, gross.

The truth is, this was expected. You take away people's freedom of movement and you confine them to their houses, you cause 40 million people to lose their jobs, then you begin printing money to inject it to Wall Street and bail out companies while giving out scraps to the people in the form of welfare-like checks and much much more. Add that to the 50+ years or racial and social tension caused by the bipartisan agenda in the country, where both parties benefit from having the population divided and well, all you need is one black man's death in the hands of a white cop disguised as police brutality and bum, you get the current situation.

I don't support the riots and the looting, I despise the racial slurs and blaming happening in social media, I get disappointed at how easy it is for some people to blame others for their own decisions but most importantly, it dazzes me how 99% of the population doesn't realize we are just pawns being moved in a chess board, and every time they want us to, we fall for their agenda.

What is happening in the US is filled with agenda. Whose agenda? No idea.

Is there civil unrest and injustice filled situations in the US? Yes. Is the situation happening in the US what should be happening? Definitely not.

What's you take about all this?

Sort:

Why do you think those people are unhappy?

My thinking is that the overarching theme to all of this is government overreach. When police think they have the right to abuse citizens, even if they are criminals, it is a government problem.
When people are told to stay home for health concerns, it's a government causing the problem. We do it voluntarily even though we don't like it.

When people are bing arrested for not following these shelter in place orders, it is a serious government problem.

Economic crash was caused by shutting down the country by government.

The even larger looming crash is the result of government intervention by printing money in 2008 and now in 2020. Wall Street continues to make bad business decisions because government is overstepping their bounds to save them.

When people start going hungry and losing their homes, government is going to get involved in feeding them while also evicting them.

I don't think it's just here in the USA. This is a global problem. Government oversteps its intended purpose and there is no single individual to blame, so they go unchallenged.

I definitely condemn all such inhuman riots and looting, they could have done a peaceful protest. And look at that - people have lost their conscience to loot like anything.

It's a classic and unfortunate additional case of "Problem" - "Reaction" - "Solution" that is used time and again.

True movements on large scales like this unfortunately haven't been co-opted and stolen. The grass roots versions of these are truly positive movements with lots of organic support but once it becomes nationwide and in the media the way it has, it's already been compromised. Things like BLM, Occupy and others I believe were actual people doing really good things at one point. They did get to the point where that was stolen by numerous powers that be for the reason of control. I think the Yellow Vests are in that list now as well.

There is too much emotion involved with this, which makes it easy to control. People who are emotional instead of logical and calculating are a lot easier to predict and control their reactions into what they want.

I feel bad for the people involved on both sides; those who have been co-opted into believing it and those on the other side who have been co-opted to believe that the opposing group is wrong. Violence like this should never occur, the best way to get positive action is to do it completely peacefully and to not let them have the reaction they want, which is violence and disruption.

The violence and aggressive riot is condemnable! It’s never the best response, I don’t know why we don’t learn this!
To a good degree, I agree to the fact that this is a part of some agenda.

With more than 36 states under curfew and on high alert..then must say US is burning....never saw such an ugly face of one of the super force of the world

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind, as Ghandi said. Sad to see such violence.

It’s so weird to see Minnehaha Liquors in flames. That’s my old neighborhood. I bought beer in that store more often than my liver would care to admit.
