Oil Skin Coats - Maintenance Preps

in #prepping2 years ago

Old school products such as oil skin coats can last a lifetime, even two lifetimes if they are maintained.

Things were "made to last" but like with anything out there from the eras where things were not "thrown away" and replaced as soon as someone wanted something "new" or "different", people looked after and maintained what they had.

Now, idk about others out there, but maintenance is 80% of the time, effort and cost of any asset/item in a household.

Think about it, lets use a dozen years or so as a general number, so in those 12 years, how much time, effort and money do you invest in maintaining the things you have?

Don't forget to calculate the storage space, real estate isn't free and if you had to pay rent on it, the figure would add up quickly.

So some may suggest that replacing it with a "new" item is a better option.

Maybe it could be an easier option, but then, not going into the landfill, waste and who knows what all other costs incurred directly and indirectly in that scenario. Let's simply go with the scenario where the items are not available?

or, Not available to you as you decide not to conform to any imposed totalitarian system that segregates people!

Let's say that you are one of those that are disadvantaged as a result of that segregation and repressive regime.

So, you can't simply "replace an asset" (an item) with a "new one".

What then?

Maintenance, so as to ensure what you have lasts and serves its purpose for as long as possible is the ONLY viable answer.

So, yeah, maybe some of us will be forced into learning the ways of the era's before this "Modern" era.

Think about it.

Stay safe,

prep up,

God bless.
