Password Vault
why?
This is a upgraded version of an older project that I've used for my passwords for many years, https://chriszarate.github.io/supergenpass/
The reason initially was a mix of
- have a single password to remember
- have a different password for every site
- access anytime anywhere even if none of my devices are available
how?
Similar to SGP you start with your main 'password'. This is the one password you remember, unless you enter an optional salt/secret password in settings, but more on that later.
Once you unlock the vault with a masterpassword, you should set a salt/secret password in the settings (FAB gear icon in bottom right).
Write down these 2 random words somewhere... noone will suspect Pineapple (master) Pizza (secret) to mean anything, security by obscurity(?).
Now you are ready to start getting passwords for various sites. Enter the domain or app you want to to generate a password for, and click generate.
This gives you a unique, procedurally generated password based on the domain+masterpassword+secretpassword that is hashed 10 times then clipped to 10characters, specific to that app or domain. This mirrors the original SGP functionality.
It also supports TOTP codes, importing and exporting (in settings) and saving passwords (for times a password needs to change for a site, or other instances where the generated password is no longer viable).
