My Pro Tip for the #Endsars Movement

in #protest2 years ago (edited)

In my opinion, the #Endsars memorial didn't seem to be a success. With records that there was a mobilization at the Lekki tool gate, you would expect a national recognition of the act of terror on the night of the shooting.

Before you shoot me, make sure to read this. I will draw my analogy from the #Blacklivesmatter movement in the USA and state a certain conscious yet religiously designed path that works just fine in instilling the continuous recognition, or to be nationally recognized status.

There is a religious construct which can shield us and propagate the movement. (Worthy of note will be a few black movement and how theology has responded to the situation. Black theology been one of such responses). This construct is ‘martyrdom’, which describes a way politics functions as a lived experience. George Floyd’s case is that which I refer to as martyrdom. A sort of secular one at that. His martyrdom was a case of political injustice visible and visceral, inspiring others to a collective action.

Don't forget that as opposed to this is the Trumpist ‘Christian’ movement, remnants of this movement would have been useful for the insurrection on the...... It appears as a radically fundamental religious movement bound around Donald Trump. For better describing I'll refer to the movement as the Trumpist Movement. Traces of this movements will results to associations with violence as means for instilling an ethnic authoritarian/dictatorial state.

My aim is to show the youths like myself the ways at which we can use religious concepts and methods in this modern day politics and to use them in understanding the dynamics of the contemporary politics. The public slow killing showcased the injustice at the heart of the American political system.

Comparable to the Nigerian situation, I would say both emerge from different ideologies, yet each is characterized around a secular martyr. The public loss of these lives bring out the visibility and visceral innateness in the boundaries of political injustice. Their life story and bodily suffering send signal for quick actions, mainly political responses. Means that, we, humans are exceptionally drawn to the human body. The body has a key role to play in connecting the individual to a collective action. In the US, Trump was an authoritarian moving to instill morality. He was using a religious construct for political reasons. So, the attraction to the body, martyrdom, and the instilling of morality, Trumpism, are examples of religious constructs in the US politics.

Martrys serve a social function. They rejuvenate the community.

Wait, before I proceed, is anyone going to read this?

Emerge!
