This blog is without cites as i am just typing up a quick one for Papa Legba. Although i am not in the religion of Voodoo as far as human initiation is concerned, Papa Legba initiated me from my life trial. My astral Parents are Maman Brigette and Baron Samedi as They are in my dreams and visions the most, and They are most helpful to me. It's so difficult to really say Who helps me the most because the Orisha i worked with are there for me when i seek Them.

Anyway, the way that i learned it is that Voudun is the African religion, and Voodoo began in Haiti then traveled to the New Orleans area with the slave trade. I guess i would be classified as New Orleans Voodoo because of my Trinity of gods. The main thing i learned in Voodoo is that it varies by region, but the diaspora is still Strong and Fast.
In Haitian & New orleans Voodoo, Papa Legba is seeked first and last in all ceremonies. He likes hearing songs, getting His veve drawn, coconut, rum, cigars, a pipe with tobacco, weed, toys. It is helpful to build a relationship with Papa Legba first when entering Voodoo because He is the Gate Keeper between the Orishas/Loas/gods. Papa sent me to Chango after i had walked with Him a while. Luckily, Papa Chango is great to me too. Yes, we can pay the Priest, but we can also go to Papa Legba. I hear that He is sick of people hiding Him and charging money for what He does for them.
In Voodoo, the diaspora is the Loa/Lwa/Oriahas and They are people who were deified,or natural forces with names and personalities but not gods. In Voodoo type religion there is one mighty God who is above all. He is away from mankind, and does not interact with Us. People must go through Papa Legba to get to the Orisha and the Orishas are in between the people and God.
