Rising Star muchas veces se utiliza con el fin de abstraernos y escucharnos internamente a través de la música, siempre presente en su dimensión audio-visual. Una muestra son los NFT instrumentos Rising Star con sus acepciones formales y cromáticas, que aciertan para transportarnos al tema que presentamos en este breve apunte musical.

El grupo progresivo británico lideraron una época en la música, publicando extraordinarios temas que les hizo gigantes de la composición.
Inicialmente el grupo estaba formado por el batería Nick Mason, el tecladista y vocalista Richard Wrigth, el bajista y vocalista Roger Waters y el guitarrista y vocalista principal Syd Barrett, quien se convirtió en el primer líder de la banda. Barrett abandonó, tras su comportamiento errático y se incorporó David Gilmour. Con el cuarteto formado por Mason, Wright, Waters y Gilmour quedó establecida la formación definitiva del grupo.
Hacia 1975, Pink Floyd habían provocado ya varias revoluciones en el rock: Psicodélico, progresivo, electrónico, experimental, sinfónico, espacial, filosófico... El rock de sus ocho primeros álbumes adoptó todas esas características, y el noveno añadió otra más. “Wish you were here” es rock melancólico, triste, nostálgico.
Cincuenta años de “Wish you were here”, el rock se puso abrumadoramente triste. Publicado en septiembre de 1975, el tercer gran super-ventas de la banda británica estuvo marcado por el recuerdo del malogrado Syd Barrett.

David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters y Richard Wright tenían razones para estarlo. Habían descubierto por las malas las presiones de la industria discográfica, la camaradería de los viejos tiempos había desaparecido, y el sentimiento de pérdida, e incluso de culpa arrastrado por el despido del ángel fundador del grupo, Syd Barrett, dejó de ser un malestar latente para materializarse de forma patente.
Varios de ellos intentaron rescatar a Barrett del abismo lisérgico al que se había precipitado, incluso intentaron ayudarle, pero todavía pesaba aquel día en que, yendo de camino al local de ensayo con la furgoneta, decidieron no parar en su casa para recogerle.
Fue un final demasiado cruel e injusto para el artífice de la psicodelia que les abrió las puertas de la gloria, aunque también fue un final inevitable. Qué podían haber hecho ellos para impedirlo. Pero así funciona la culpa. Las lágrimas por Barrett fueron derramadas por algunos componentes de la banda que quedaron horrorizados por el declive físico de Barrett, Roger Waters no pudo evitar echarse a llorar.
El disco vio la luz en septiembre de 1975, en medio de una colosal expectación tras el exitazo de “Dark Side of the Moon”, y tuvo algunas malas críticas de medios importantes. Algo que se atribuye a que era (en aquel momento) el álbum de rock más esperado jamás publicado, ya que incluso el anuncio de su fecha de lanzamiento fue noticia de primera plana.
El álbum tardó una semana en llegar a lo más alto en las listas inglesas convirtiéndose en el que más rápido se había vendido de la historia del grupo. Su predecesor cuenta hasta el día de hoy con 45 millones de copias vendidas, “The Wall” suma 35 y, con 20 millones, “Wish you were here”, es el tercer trabajo más popular de Pink Floyd.
