Last night I had a dream about steem. For real. Yeah, I know what you're thinking... get a life. And you'd be right π
Before I start waxing philosophical and pulling on my beard in excitement like Carl Jung when his patient has a dream about eating their own head, lets take a delve into the twisted mind of a twitching fomo-ridden steemian.
Dream first, analysis second.
Rain sluices the dirt road. I look up and down this calico highway, sweat dripping off me as my mind reels with the reality that I seem to be somewhere in India. It's rainy season, and the verdant green of distant jungle contrasts with the grey sky and faded yellow of the Sorghastrum grass. The sun heats the clouds to a humid blanket, coddling the land. I hear a rumble in the distance.
I look back at a complex of low huts emblazoned with steem logos, the rain cuts out, like someone flicked a switch. Above, a billboard swims in my vision.
A battered white van rumbles down the road toward me. The exhaust pipe is held on with a rope. Rust streaks the side of the van and I hesitantly stick my thumb out to hitch a lift. Heavy clouds darken rapidly, like a time-lapse video.
As the van approaches I feel an unease, like I'm Ben Mitchell in the film Wolf Creek. Will I wake up nailed to a cross in an abandoned mine shaft? The van grinds slowly to a halt, the exhaust pipe falls to the ground with a crash, a friendly face emerges from the van window and looks back at the exhaust.
"Hop in, we're going as far as Bangkok." @world-travel-pro jumps out of the van, pulls the rusty side door open before proceeding to gaffer-tape the exhaust pipe back to the van's chassis. Inside the van is like something out of a steemian hippy's wet dream. Glitter balls hang from the ceiling and the inside of the van is cushioned all over the walls. Funkytown by Lipps Inc is blasting on the speakers and the van is full of steemians I met in Krakow.
The inside of the van expands like a tardis, my guts wrench as I fall down the steem rabbit hole. @nomadicsoul @justineh @soyrosa @jayna @coruscate, @travelgirl, @eveuncovered and @elizacheng are all busting some funky disco moves. My heart skips a beat.
The air thrums with bass and a purple haze as light refracts through the smoke from the cigar @aggroed smokes (I don't even know if aggroed smokes) as he lounges on a cushion talking to @arcange, and @blocktrades.
@roelandp dances across the ever-expanding floor passing out glasses of wine and bottles of beer. As the music slips into Saturday Night by Oliver Cheatham I see @anomadsoul pouring shots for @blewitt @abh12345 @tarazkp and a mysterious figure wearing a mask. @kevinwong bumps the shot glass against his mask, drops of tequila tumble.
Crystal moments lost in chaos.
Other steemians stand at the edge of my vision, watching the scene. @buttcoins @kevinli @artakush @tibfox @adetorrent and @neopch film the whole thing, gimbals wave in time to the music. @bitrocker2020 talks to @fredrikaa, and @jeanpi1908. Slowly they all start to dance. @techslut, @pharesim and @bubke chat and smoke something fragrant as they dance. Flashing slants of light illuminate faces, smiles widen, lips chatter and the music flows; it looks like something out of a scene from Saturday night fever.
Everything blurs as the music fazes between Do the Do and James Brown's Get on Up. Someone taps me on the shoulder. The music stops. Lights fade. The buzz of conversation sputters out. Everything is silent.
"Can I give you some investment advice friend?" @celestal wears a business suit, collar tucked high and a briefcase by his side.
I nod.
"Buy steem now, it will never be cheaper." His briefcase tumbles open and dried fruit pours forth like the mythical cornucopia. Celestal laughs mechanically as the van fills up with dried fruit, a piece of apricot gets stuck in my ear. I dig furiously to extract this errant apricot as dried banana fills my nostrils.
Another voice pulls me out of this nightmare dried fruit drowning. Clear daylight diffuses through the back of the van. Empty, except for a few cushions placed against the wheel arch.
"Relax man." @teamsteem grins from the passenger seat next to @world-travel-pro.
"Better get comfy, it's a long journey."
It's at this point that my dream faded and I woke up. I've been drinking coffee and writing ever since.
"WTF!" I hear you shout. "This isn't about steem, or steemfest! I've been had." Before you furiously downvote me for my indiscriminate tagging, hear me out. I'd like to suggest that this post is completely about steem.
The description of my dream was a blow for blow account of my nighttime meanderings of the imagination. I'm not sure why it was so psychedelic, or the drowning in dried fruit part, perhaps that's the lingering effect of my misspent youth. Many of the major elements in this dream were composed from comment conversations I had on steem yesterday, along with a healthy dose of Steemfest FOMO and memories from last years steemfest in Krakow. All of the people in this dream were people who I either bumped into at steemfest 3, or at the least saw and recognized around the place.
I think it shows the powerful potential of steem when community interactions can infiltrate the subconscious to this level. For me, this dream represents my returned enthusiasm for writing on steem. This is born out of the overall positivity and changes in behavior that #newsteem is breeding. It's not hard to analyse this dream to be honest, so lets give it a go.
Honestly, I think the overall meaning of this dream is that I need to reduce my coffee intake. But there are some obvious sources for how my subconscious populated my dream.
Lets start with @eco-alex, founder of @ecotrain. Why did he pop up in my steem-centric dream? The last thing I did before I went to sleep last night was read this post about his plans to build a steem eco village in India, and dropped a comment in support.
The overall driving force behind this vivid theater of my overloaded theta-waving brain, was reading @roelandp's latest steemfest update. I'm not going to be able to make it to steemfest this year and I'm feeling that FOMO hard! My comment on Roelandp's post says it all.
Why is @world-travel-pro driving the van? Well, I have to admit you've got me there. I haven't interacted with him in a while and we only hung out for lunch once at steemfest 3, but... well... he's a world-travel-pro. If anyone can get that clapped out old van from India to Bangkok it's him π
@anomadsoul pouring out shots for everyone? That's easy, he was a consummate dispenser of tequila at steemfest 3. But by far my favorite moment from this insane creation of my nighttime wanderings was @celestal's investment advice.
Yesterday I read a post from Miikka, where he discusses putting his money where his mouth is in buying steem at this low price. I had literally been talking investment with him and @abh12345 that day in his post. The drowning in dried fruit... I have no idea, your guess is as good as mine. Answers on a postcard in the comments please. Feel free to analyse away. I will never look at an apricot the same way again!
Why did my dream manifest as a cliche 1970's film scenario? I'm not sure about that one either, perhaps I have a deep unfulfilled desire to be John Travolta.
Maybe that is OK.
Maybe steemfest should have a 1970's theme this year? What do you think Roelandp?
All I know is I believe in the funk... the whole funk and nothing but the funk!
If you have enjoyed this creative post, I hope you will check out my upcoming work on my homepage @raj808. Thanks for reading.
You definitely have a dream buddy haha, reading this for me was like a stream of consciousness and it's really amazing that we have lot of people who I don't even know. I definitely picture @anomadsoul pouring out drinks, dude seems like a beer guy ππππ
Yeah, I was going for that first person style so that the reader could really get into my 'slightly' unhinged mind π
Yeah, steem is really big. I must admit, some of the people I tagged I didn't really speak to much but I remember seeing them at steemfest, or in some cases sitting in a group just listening. One gr8 thing about steemfest is that you learn a lot even if you're introverted just by listening :)
I know you're basically trending lol, it's good to see the great Raj doing a lot of reply lol I hope you have the fortitude because you'll get More comments lol. Ah wish I could attend steemfest someday
Ha ha, I'm ready for a million comments m8. Partiko is my friend.... sleep is not π€£π

Sounds like the taxis on our roads here in SA. lol
After everything described prior, I would have been most relieved to see @world-travel-pro - he has an undeniably friendly face and demeanor haha!
My question though, is what the hell did you do before you went to bed? hehehe!!!
This is such a brilliant post @raj808!
Hi jaynie
ha ha, yeah I did have cheese on toast about 8 pm... but I didn't go to sleep until like 1am and this dream was right at the end of my sleep cycle. Lol, to be honest this dream is tame compared to what I used to get back in the days of, cough cough, chemical enlightenment. There are less random flights over cities and fights with invisible demons these days, and the dreams seem to make some type of sense when I get them this vivid. I used to remember 3-4 dreams/night, but I was never together enough to get them written down into a story like this. These days I remember one vividly like this per week I'd say, double edged sword π
Thanks for checking out the post, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm getting back into my writing flow the last week.
Really glad to hear that!
You must watch out for that cheese on toast hey... potent stuff LOL!
As for the dreams old and new - I can completely relate. Dream analysis is something that has always fascinated me and I got quite heavily into it in my late teens - must have also been encouraged by the chemically induced random flights over cities and fights with invisible demons! lol - but I learnt a LOT about how to dissect the details of the dreams and found that the more I did that, the better I got at it. It also dramatically increased and fine tuned my "third eye". I don't often remember my dreams these days... motherhood has a way of making you sleep like you are in a bloody coma haha, but when I do, I still do my best to break them down into detail like this.
This is a real GEM! You should definitely eat more cheese on toast haha :)
That's cool and I was similar but I never really got into analyzing my own dreams much. More just studying the subject and particularly Carl Jung's ideas and his take on psychology, dreams and archetypes. Ha ha, I never studied psychology at school or uni though... more of an armchair psychologist π
I bet! I've never been able to have that deep Delta sleep... other than when I'm sleep deprived or jet lagged.
I don't think Aggy smokes, but he may well have a go on a Cuban after he see's Splinterlands market cap just zoom past 3 million USD.
Cheese makes for some interesting night times :)
Ha ha.
Yeah, that's enough to make you break out a pack of the Cubans π
P.s. I'm going to have to be careful not to start self medicating with cheese sandwiches late at night.

Yeaaaaaaaa; i had a dream too; having my own car out of my steem success. sure; it will happen
Cheers.
Believe it can happen. I'm not saying 100% it will, but I remember when steem was $6/steem.
Smile. I love your true story about STEEM. This is really an inspiration to me. I believe

Cheers mattsanthonyit.
Believe! Glad to have inspired you :)
I considered flagging you for not dreaming about me but then I decided I would flag you for that..π seriously

lol!
Awwww... I'm sorry @skramatters we're you at Steemfest 3? I can't dream about someone I've never seen. I was so lame and introverted at SF 3 that I might have missed you even if you were there.
Actually, what am I saying, I completely could dream about someone I've never met. You were the driving force behind the never ending flow of dried fruit, I probably deserve a flag for that lame ass attempt to get out of trouble π
hahahaha....
Too legit to quit!
You have forgotten that long walk we took together in Krakow? I guess the tequila was talking, you swore you'd circle jerk me til the moon. I guess you tell all the minnows that π..
Posted using Partiko Android
My tummy hurts from laughing already lol
ππ€£ well there was one night I was drunk enough that I completely don't remember anything. That was a night of zero crazy dreams.
Lol, as jaynie said... I'm too legit to quit... while I'm ahead π I deserve the flag for my terrible early onset (replace with alcohol induced) memory problems.
Posted using Partiko Android
Flag removed due to quality engagement and the fact that it's indeed difficult to dream about people you've never met. But, I do always seem to have a cast of crazies in my dreams that are complete strangers..
Posted using Partiko Android
Ha ha. Next time... you're there, with extra crazy π
Cheers for dropping the flag bro. This was indeed a fun and funny convo.
I've had my share of Steem dreams, but drowning in dried fruit... dude this is fucking hilarious! Had you just wrote it out I'd thought it was a comedy open mic instead of a dream ππ€£
You heard it from the dream me, folks, buy Steem now until it's too late.
Ha ha, seriously listen to the man!
The dream was a vivid one, and you were properly dressed up like you were going to pitch a product to Samsung or something.
Glad you enjoyed the funnies m8. I was honestly somewhere between laughing and crying after that dream and I just had to get right up and record it. I love it when my mind gifts me these crazy inspirations π€£

Glad you enjoyed the 'far out' feels of this one. I haven't just let myself go with my thoughts (kind of freewriting style) like this in a while.
Will do. Right back at ya:)
I couldn't find my furious flag button so voted the other way instead... Entertaining!
Ha ha, well there is always a next time. That's what I get for not tagging you π€£
Honestly, I'm not a serial tagger. Just recently my trigger finger has been slipping. Glad you enjoyed the dream and story boomy :)

Sorry, couldn't help myself π€£
Ha ha. A post a day is beyond me I'm afraid... your position of mega content making machine is safe @meesterboom.... or is it?
Mwa ha ha ha, all it would take is a massive block of costco cheddar cheese and a nightly routine of cheese on toast and I could become a vivid dream, fckd up short story writing machine. I'd need a bathtub of coffee too ;-)

Haha what an epic dream! Safe to say you have been infiltrated by steem and vice versa! At least it was a good dream and not a nightmare!
I've taken this low market opportunity to buy up thousands of the good stuff and will continue to do so now the pay days are coming in regularly with the new job! Can't promise tequilas, dried fruit or ropey exhaust pipes but expect some serious mad part time curation going on π
Posted using Partiko Android
Thanks. Yeah, I've been infiltrated by the
cult'cough cough' community of steem. In all seriousness though, I am very encouraged by what has happened with the Hardforks tackling the abuses that go on. It's early days, but it's the right direction and impressive nonetheless. That's awesome m8. I think that 2 - 3 years down the line you will be pleased with your decsision. I'm pretty sure that when BTC clears $20000 and bolts for all time highs, mainstream retail investors come streaming in and all legit alts boom. Steem has a tone of development behind it that should make that boom even greater. This is, of course, the optimists outlook... but damn if I'm not becoming optimistic π I think it's a case of risk/reward. During the 2017 bull run I saw that the vast majority of users with between 4 - 10K SP were doing well in post payouts. This could very well be the future for us who stay active now and accumulate, but even more so with SE tokens and SMT's round the corner. Or, it could all fail, that is the risk. But I don't see that. My Spidey senses are tingling π€£
Lol, it's definitely a cult community... For now but there have really been some eye opening statements about this movement in to Web 3.0 where people actually start to own a bit of the social media they are on. It's a completely different paradigm compared to what we're used to and with the latest HF and immediate behaviour changes, there's reason to be optimistic. Just hope it continues moving forward.
I'm pleased with the decision now to have bought as I'm now a dolphin which is something I had my eyes on for a long time and I'm not planning on stopping there. Steem is so undervalued it's untrue, take away the issues of the past with bbs and other "slightly dodgy" antics (which you get everywhere btw), the blockchain itself is actually very good, 3 seconds, feeless and then all the dapps being built onto it, communities, open source... Dude, come on! If this price isn't a steal then I don't know what is and it's only a matter of time before the price improves.
I've read many reports that BTC is going to take another fall short term which may drive the rest of the markets down too so we're in for a bit of a rough ride the next 2-3 months from what I've seen but long term... Roses and green fields with sunshine π
Posted using Partiko Android
Ha ha, just goes to show that it depends on which analysis you look at. I'm pretty much daily watching two YouTube channels and they're both traders. They're both saying it's not cut and dry, and one of them is actually bullish. Over thing is certain, the trading range is so tight that it's gonna move biggish within a week max. Up or down, but BTC is moving soon. We've been consolidating for like three months.
I've started trading again so I'm sat on the sidelines looking at break levels. If it closes daily above certain level I go long, if closes daily below another I short. Either way the possibilities to make money are decent. But there is only one way we want it to go to help bring alts back to life and that's up.
Posted using Partiko Android
I get my articles from Coinmarketcap app, coindesk and coin telegraph but I have to admit, saying I'm a tad confused by technical analysis is an understatement! I just look at the graphs from over the course of a day, week, month(s) and years to see how the prices right now stack up. Seeing as I originally bought in around ATH, everything looks like it's on sale now π€£
Decided to start averaging over the last few weeks with BTC and buying up steem when it's floating around 13-14p although now it's around 12.5p, crazy really! Could be an orca by the end of the year if this continues π

~Smartsteem Curation Team
Thanks for the curation Smartsteem Curation Team. I massively appreciate it :)
Well @raj808... you know? While I wasn't on SteemFest Krakow as to have a so colourful, friendly and amusing dream as this one you've had. I also had a kinda psychedelic dream a few nights ago about steem. And I wonder if in my dream you wouldn't find some clues about why yours was soooo psychedelic. Hahahaha
Oh! and you can bet 'My Dream' was also way too FUNKY too!! };)
Coolio man! You should write a post about it π or a description in this comment is you'd like! I did have a little look on your profile but couldn't see any psychedelic dream posts.
Not all of my dream was amusing, I'll be having nightmares about dried fruit for ever!!!!
Anyways, thanks for checking out my post.
Posted using Partiko Android
Really? Are you serious man? You couldn't see 'that' psychedelic dream post in my blog @raj808?
Hahahaha, then I have to conclude that you prolly are just suffering of some sort of allergy to click on the green texts in my comments or something mate. C'mon! click on them buddy. Nothing to fear. And you will find the true funky psychedelia right away. :D
Cheers!!
I was so tired when I was answering comments the other day I missed the link, sry.
Well, I just took a look at that link and what I found was a copy/paste job where you put a bands lyrics up on a steem post with a link to a YouTube video of the band.
Nice tune you shared. I've added it into one of my YouTube playlists.
Cheers
Posted using Partiko Android
Haha yeah! that statement may well be true. BUT, but didn't you know you ALWAYS have to read my posts between lines?
You actually MUST read the closest previous posts before that one of the 'psychedelic dream' to clearly understand the whole 'meaning' and allow the DMT of my message deeply penetrate your mind and actually shed some new light into your consciousness. Hahahahaha
P.S. I'm glad that you now can have a new kickass 'funky' tune to enjoy into your YouTube playlists. };)
I did enjoy your dream
But I am bummed about not seeing your fancy dance moves!!
Now what?!
Well, I know even the last time it was such a last minute thing for you...
Who knows.....
It was a doozy. Ha ha, I was enjoying the dream until I started drowning in dried fruit π
I wish. I couldn't afford the flight and spending money, even if I won everything else in one of the competitions. That's just life sometimes. I'm not too bummed out to be honest. There is always next year. Plus π€ it will be a bull market by then, steem will be at $4-$8 and I'll be an orca and can strut around like a steem celebrity π
I might have to start saving up now for next year or maybe not if you predict right ;p
Next round it is ... even it is just to watch you strut hahaha
Oh my gosh!! This is so fun and crazy. I love it. One of my curation trails already upvotes it or I would have given it a 100% upvote. Actually, the only truly bizarre thing in this whole thing is the idea of @celestal in a business suit. Everything else seems spot on! π
!tip
Hi Jayna. I'm glad you enjoyed the feelgood feels :) I was enjoying the dream until I started drowning in dried fruit π
I know, right.
Well, if I become Steem millionaire, who knows where I'm gonna end up.
Posted using Partiko Android
This is indeed a dream after all... I guess I will only do the funky disco moves in dreams...π€£
But then it is a cool dream after all...
Looking forward to seeing you again in Bangkok... Wonder what have Roeland plans for us this time... Boat ride... Bus ride... Or elephant rides? ππ
Posted using Partiko Android
Ahhh, well I'm not gonna be able to make it this year. I was a little naughty using the roadtosteemfest tag, but I just thought people might want to hear my dream π Also, I kinda think this post is a creative way to advertise how gr8 Steemfest is.
I hope you have a blast Eliza, and get to do some disco dancing ππ
hi @raj808, ... great dream and well done for remembering everything, I guess I really want to know what you ate before you went to bed, ... and is it freely available :-)
Ha ha, mountains of cheese m8y π€£ I've always been able to remember my dreams for some reason. It comes in handy for inspiring short stories. I got even better at remembering them after I kept a dream diary during university for a fiction writing module.
Cheers for checking out the post. Glad you enjoyed it π

You have explained about Steam very well. And what kind of dream did you have You also tell us and we keep thinking a lot about Steam.
Yeah man... it was one hella dream ;-)
