POEM: QUARRY PASS

in #rock9 years ago (edited)

Stone of hardened hearts is found
And trucks leave the quarry
Securely lining driveways
Like a buried will

Excavate to see the years
As wet saws leave their mark
Boulders decorate a field
Like how trees budge and bark

Squeeze the stone with temperature
And ice vacates the sides
The crystal fortress of solitude
Clears a hiding place

Turn the stone and daylight
Will surely show the lack
Of light deprived and weight suppressed
What takes years to grow back

When surrounded by this heart
Walls rise to the occasion
Navigate by Jeep or give
Someone your location

Dynamite and rocky rain
Ricochets from hardened hats
And perforates umbrellas
Of the unprepared mass

note: Light metaphor play and exploring rocks and the "heart of stone" concept.
