RE: 40' of smooth progression run for new shoes adaption

in #running7 years ago

Nice! I have some questions concerning shoes. Do you always buy the same shoes? Or you try different ones sometimes? And do you do your races with them? Because I have the Wave Rider 20 and I don't find them really responsive and light to do fast training or a race.

Sort:

I have a lot of shoes... lighter and heavier, faster and slower...usually I wear Mizuno, sayonara, hitogami and ekiden for fast racing bud, rider’s are the most balanced...they are a good compromise between protection and speed, believe me...
My best marathon time is 2’54 with rider’s, my best 10K having crossed the 40 years I got as well with riders...35’

Lighter shoes can give you a small advantage but...you risk to get injured easily
Anyway, the best is to try different models and do your own research.
I only use riders since I get recovered from a long injure caused for lighter shoes use.

Thank you for the info :)
That's what I do right now. Since I only start to run more (not even one year ago I was running only once a week), I try new type of shoes to see which ones are the best for me.
And I didn't know your time on a marathon. It's quite impressive and it clearly shows that lighter shoes are not needed to run fast!

As I said, lighter shoes can give you some advantage but the risk of injure is also flying over you then...
I'm not telling you don't use them but do it in very particular moments...
Please, feel free to ask anything you need. We are here to help ;-)

Thank you for all the advice :)
