Lunchtime run: Know your limits

in #running8 years ago

Another run in my lunch break. The weather was okay considering it was raining in the morning. It had already dried out. Today's run in my half marathon training was a speed test. The Endomondo app wanted to know how far I could run in 12 minutes. There's five minutes of warm-up and then go for it. It may have been a mistake to do this along Six Hills Road as I slowed noticeably on the uphills. Another runner overtook me before the 'sprint', but I couldn't catch him. The early part was quick for me, but I ran out of steam before the end. I managed 2.2km, which is not the best I've ever done.

This was on the way back as I went behind the shopping precinct. Anyone remember Max Headroom? Luckily there was a higher part to the left.

Headroom

As usual I went further than the app demanded, but I had to get back to work anyway. My new record was not that special. I had to stop and check the map after the sprint to work out where I was. I managed to get on a different road to the one I expected. I tend to navigate by instinct, but the map is there if I need it.

Route

It's still over two months to the race. I think I'll be in better shape by then.

Props on making lunch runs a habit! I've struggled to squeeze workouts into my runs since it takes me a while to cool down after so I'm always jealous of people who can make it work. Keep it up!

As a tall woman (6ft1), a lot of people think I should be an athlete of some sort. In 2016, I trained hard but I 'lost steam'. We are 2018 now.

You run is not bad, pretty impressive. If I could run that distance I would swell with pride. Lol.

Good luck with the race.

It is so cool you're preparing in advance, even though you managed 2.2km which is not the best you've ever done, just know that practice makes perfection... You can do better😁

Good Job Steev! Way to keep up with your foot time hustle.

Well, I think that your records suggest that you have improved as compared to the last run. As I already said your running duration is pretty good. I see you have increased your speed too and that's impressive. Keep it up. I hope you will be in good shape in 2 months.

Frankly I do not remember for Max headroom. Apparently it's nice today to run. Good luck @steevc and have a nice wednesday
